Kevin J. (Libertyville, IL)
This is the second chimney they've fixed for me, and I'm quite happy with the work. I'd use them again in a second.

Ben F. (Wadsworth, IL)
We contracted with Coast to Coast Masonry after Romen visited our house and unlike the other three contractors that visited, was the only one to climb on the roof and notice that the original concrete chimney cap had cracked. What was originally a simple brick repair and tuck pointing job became a major chimney repair, but we were ready for that and agreed that this isn't a job that gets less expensive the longer it is put off.

The mason team arrived 2 weeks after the the contract was signed and spent 1.5 weeks repairing, replacing, sealing, and tuck pointing every distressed brick on our house. It took them three days just to do the demo on the top of the chimney. They found multiple instances of additional damage and never raised the price.

After the work was completed we knew that we'd not only stopped the clock on the brick damage that was occurring due to corners cut in the original construction, but that we'd built something that would really stand the test of time. Coast to Coast Masonry was fantastic to work with and we will definitely hire them again should the need arise.

Vicki P. (Glenview, IL)
Coast to Coast rebuilt the chimney on our new house (it had unfortunately been neglected by the previous owners), and we couldn't be happier with the rebuild. We received six quotes for the work, and we're confident that we chose the best masonry for the job. Even before signing the contract, my husband and I had a number of questions regarding the scope of work and our chimney flue, and Romen always happily answered them. They were communicative, reliable, and honest, which isn't always easy to find with contractors. During the job, after taking down the chimney, they realized that they needed to install a different, more expensive liner than originally planned. They could have easily installed the originally planned liner (as we would never have known); however, they were honest and told us that they recommended a different liner and didn't charge us anything extra than the originally agreed upon quote. If we ever need any more masonry work, we'll definitely be using Coast to Coast. Thanks, Romen and Team!

Lois J. (Chicago, IL)

The men did a really good job! Thank you.

Robert C. (Park Ridge, IL)

Great across the board.

Tom E. (Bensenville, IL)

Excellent experience. They were on time. Finished everything in 1 day. Would recommend. -- The owner came and gave me the estimate. I had to pull the permit for the work. They did give me the drawing needed for the county. They schedule the work when I needed it. The workers had the knowledge and experience to handle the job. They were very tidy and neat and respected my property. It was very dusty in the basement, but I expected that. The workers told me the size of the lintel in the bid was possibly thicker than needed at 1/2" but that is what I put on the permit. They were thinking of using a 3/8" piece which would still be bigger then really needed but ended up going with the 1/2". If they did go with the smaller lentil, they said they would fix it at no cost to me if the county had an issue with the change. This was good to know. They answered all my questions and showed me the progress as they went. Price quote was reasonable.

Janet N. (Long Grove, IL)

Prompt and easy to work with. Satisfied.

Lisa T. (Palatine, IL)

Excellent experience based on the following reasons. Would highly recommend. --the workers had the knowledge and experience to handle the job at hand --the workers were very tidy and neat and respected my property --price quote was reasonable, based on my research for the job at hand --the workers were patient with me given the number of questions I asked.

Christine H. (Buffalo Grove, IL)

Workmen showed up right on time and did an excellent job. The owner himself came by a few days later to do some finishing touches. Very high quality work.

Florence M. (Oak Park, IL)

Workers were timely. Completed work as scheduled. Communicated when they had to leave to get additional materials. Cleaned up area after work completed. I originally had them do the foundation work. When I inspected the area, I found a very small area under a rear porch that had not been completed. They were very responsive to my request to come back and correct. Based on my satisfaction, I had them come out and do the chimney work.

Edward F. (Gurnee, IL)

It went very well. Three quotes were provided by Coast to Coast, each of varying comprehensiveness and cost. Once we made our decision, the work was scheduled within one week and completed within two. There was some minor miscommunication around cleanup after the work was done, but that was resolved quickly with a call to the office.

Dale D. (Hoffman Estates, IL)

They did a great job at a good price. Everything was left cleaned.

Betty L. (Barrington, IL)

Great...they were very professional and knowledgeable...from the initial evaluation and quote to the completion of work.

Joy S. (Libertyville, IL)

It took two days and they performed all of the work they said that they would. They cleaned everything up before they left and I am very satisfied with their work. The bricks were old so they couldn't match the color perfectly but it was very close in color and I don't notice it when I walk by.

Jason G. (Chicago, IL)

Coast-to-coast is the best tuckpointer we've worked with in recent history! They're on-time, professional, and do the job well. It's been a year since we first worked with them, and they're coming back next month for some more work on a different part of the building.

G.T. (Libertyville, IL)

I contacted Coast to Coast Masonry because of their good ratings with the Better Business Bureau. They responded to my call quickly and Romen came to my home to look at my concerns. I did not tell Romen what I was thinking as I did not want to influence his decision-making. After he carefully checked out my failing chimney cap and leaking chimney he told me what he thought needed to be done which was exactly what I was looking for. The work was involved, new cap, tuckpointing, sealant, caulk, and took 4.5 days to complete. Amazing job and a splendid crew. The final result looks really beautiful. The crew worked from a bit after 7am until 5pm each day and they worked hard. No dawdling, or long lunch breaks. Meticulous workmanship, neat and clean. Just awesome! Thank you Coast to Coast for taking care of my home.

Dee F. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Excellent!!! The repairs to the brickwork on our home blend in seamlessly with the original look. I highly recommend this company for tuckpointing and repair.

William G. (Elmhurst, IL)

I had my main chimney and secondary chimney (for water heater) tuckpointed and new crowns made. I also had two flues relined with stainless steel liners, bottom dampers removed and top dampers installed, and the smoke chambers parged. Roman came out promptly to provide a quote. He was very courteous and i received a very competitive quote promptly. The job was scheduled and completed in a timely manner and his staff were all courteous as well. The work was done professionally and looks great. When his crew was done they did an excellent job of cleaning up outside. When they did the inside work they were very good at keeping everything clean. I would highly recommend Coast to Coast to anyone for masonry or chimney work. Thank you to Roman and his crew.

Linda M. (Winnetka, IL)

This is a long overdue review, but Roman deserves to have his outstanding services publicized. My mom recently moved into a home with multiple fireplaces, all of which had been severely neglected.  There was considerable damage to the chimneys and the flues, and it all pretty much needed to be rebuilt.  I used Yelp, along with neighborhood websites, to try to find 3 reputable companies to come out and give an estimate.  Roman from Coast to Coast Masonry was just wonderful.  He provided my mom with detailed information and explanations of the work required.  However, unlike some other companies we spoke to, he was not high-pressure.  He treated my mom with the utmost respect, and his pricing was right in line with everyone else's.  We gave him the job, and he and his team worked HARD for a week straight.  They were so diligent and detail oriented.  He did this work back in the summer, but of course we didn't turn the fireplaces on when it was hot.  Once my mom wanted to use one of her fireplaces, she realized that the gas starter was not working. We called Roman, and he came out and fully diagnosed what the problem was.  It had nothing to do with the work he had done, but he solved the problem and wanted to ensure that my mom was happy.  AND - he didn't charge a dime for that last visit, which was more than an hour of his time.  In a world where service levels are going down, I'm glad to know that there are companies like Coast to Coast who go the extra mile.  Thanks, Roman.

Mopen P. (Barrington, IL)

I contacted Coast to Coast Masonry and they scheduled me a free estimate as soon as possible.  Romen came out and did a thorough inspection, complete with photos.  Dorothy emailed me a proposal, which included three different options with detailed breakdowns.  We have not yet scheduled the work, but we will definitely go with Romen when ready to tackle this project.  I will write an updated review after completion.

Tim Z. (Palatine, IL)

Thank you Coast to Coast for turning our vision into reality with our fireplace make-over. We love the way it looks and it is now safe for us to use.

Zack W. (Chicago, IL)

We have a 90 year old chimney that was in bad shape and could no longer have fires in the living room fireplace. Spoke with multiple companies, and they all recommended a chimney rebuild and new chimney liner. But Roman and Coast-to-Coast were the most thorough and come back with a great price. The scope of work was detailed and communication (email and phone) was prompt and easy. The crew was here for three days and we have an amazing new chimney. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was done right and honored the original price. The salvaged brick they used looks perfect, you can't even tell what is new vs old. The crew was polite, cleaned up amazingly well (one of my neighbors even commented on how organized and clean they kept the job). We had a fire the other night and everything worked perfect: no damper, great draft, no smoke backup. I would highly recommend Roman and his crew for any masonry work or fireplace work you need. I put a lot of time into choosing a company for this job and am 100% satisfied with my choice to go with Coast to Coast.

Zach W. (Highland Park, IL)

Great company for masonry and fireplace work. I used them for a chimney rebuild and new liner. Detailed scope of work, great communication, and went beyond the scope of work to make the repair the best they could and still honored the original price. The work looks great, they cleaned up, and had great follow-up to inspect the work to make sure it met their high standards. Highly recommended.

Andy K. (Chicago, IL)

Most of the front of our home is a brick veneer/fascia. In recent years the effect of Chicago weather took it's toll on a particular section, with sections of brick falling off. We got four quotes from various service providers, with most suggesting that we take down what we have and replace with stone or new brick, with the highest quote being over $17k. Romen from Coast-to-Coast came out, surveyed the situation, and developed a much more creative solution. The vast majority of our brick was fine. He recommended only replacing the necessary portion, with a total cost of under $4k. But not only did they save us a lot of money, they did it with quality and class. When we asked for a couple things to be re-done (e.g. caulking around a window or repair to siding), never once were we treated as if we were inconveniencing them. And whatever we asked for, they typically did above and beyond. Bottom-line: we got high quality work done, professionally, for a very good deal. We could not be happier with the work of Coast-to-Coast Masonry.

Aaron B. (Chicago, IL)

I first met Romen from Coast-to-Coast about 10 years ago when I had a cracked chimney cap. The contractor I'd called for an estimate recommended that I fill the crack with epoxy and cover the cap with a waterproof coating. I didn't think that was the right way to do the job and the price I was quoted wasn't exactly cheap. So I checked around and someone gave me the number for Coast-to-Coast. Long story short, rather than doing a questionable repair like the first guy suggested, Coast-to-Coast removed the old chimney cap, tuckpointed the brick, and poured a new cap in place of the old one. The finished result looked terrific and clearly was the correct way to do the job. To top it off, they charged me less than the price the other guy quoted me. So I was very happy and made a point to keep their number in case I needed more work done later on.

Well, this past April I purchased a commercial condominium space that is block and masonry construction. It's an older building and needed a bunch of repairs due to water damage and neglect. So I contacted Romen at Coast-to-Coast and he came out to do an inspection and quote me a price. They ended up replacing the old steel exit door, power washing all the interior walls, filling hundreds of holes drilled into the walls, tuckpointing all the joints, repairing the exterior walls, caulking the windows, and various other stuff. The work was done quickly, professionally, and at a very reasonable price. On top of that, they even fixed a couple of things that weren't covered in the quote and didn't charge me for the extra work. Everyone knows how hard it is to find good contractors, and what a relief it is when the work is done right, on time, and on budget. By those standards, I have to say Coast-to-Coast has to be one of the best, most professional, companies I've ever worked with.

Thomas S. (Chicago, IL)

Ramen, Art, and the whole crew were extremely professional and timely, with exceptional results rebuilding our fire place chimneys and restoring our brick patio walls and walkways. They are perfectionists. We couldn't give higher praise. We are very pleased. Thank you.

Nancy L. (Chicago, IL)

Outstanding customer service. Repaired my concrete chimney cap in a timely, professional manner and was reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend using them!

Charlotte R. (Chicago, IL)

Coast to Coast Masonry did a very good job. They were prompt and cleaned up carefully. I would recommend them for masonry work.

Zachary G. (Chicago, IL)

Coast to Coast Masonry was recommended to me by a friend, and after a job well done I can see why the recommendation was made. Stanley came out to my home to inspect my chimney as I was in need of some new chimney liners. Stanley used a camera to show me exactly where the liners were damaged and worn out. I appreciated the time he took to explain to me everything that needed to be done and his patience with all of my questions. They were able to start the project shortly after the inspection; the operator Dorothy provided fast and courteous assistance in setting up a date and time to start the work. It was a pleasure to work with the group; they came out on time and left my home spotless. I was impressed with the work and will be passing along the recommendation. Thank you, Coast to Coast!

Kim W. (Libertyville, IL)

They were extremely professional, clean and did an awesome job.  I have high expectations and they exceeded them!  They put a new liner in our chimney, tuckpointed the brick and replaced some bricks in the basement.  Upon signing the contract, the work was completed in about a week. I would definitely recommend them.

Tracy M. (Libertyville, IL)

Estimate was very professional, pretty much in the middle of those received from mastonry companies. Roman was very responsive. Two workers spent the entire day on the first 12 rows of the chimney, also building a concrete cap, as well as removal of all construction material. Returned two days later to remove forms and clean worksite. Due to the age of the house, the exisiting bricks were difficult to match and Coast to Coast did the best they could. Happy with the results.

Marcin C. (Northbrook, IL)

A true craftsman, excellent quality work, no sales talk here! The work shows it all. They place quality of the work before all else. I highly recommend Coast to Coast Masonry for all your masonry needs!

Agnes W. (Palatine, IL)

I'm very happy that I used them to the work on my house. Romen was on time for his estimate price was computable to others he did explain everything clearly to me so I could understand. The proposal was very professional, the whole project took approximately a week they were very clean and neat very nice people to work with. My fire place looks beautiful. The mortar on the house is matching very well I cant tell the difference where the spot tuck-pointing was done. Romen took his time and brought over samples of the brick before installation for my approval also the new brick is matching the old brick perfect. During the grinding they did cover my swimming pool and all flowers around the building. After they left my yard is cleaner than before.

Kris G. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Owner came to view chimney. Took pictures of interior and showed me the problems that I could not see from my point of view on the ground - it was obvious to me that the exterior of the chimney was deteriorating but he showed me what needed attention on the interior. He gave me a few options and the prices of those option. Emailed me and mailed me a thorough and professional quote. All details were as mentioned in our conversation. The men who came to do the work were very polite, professional, and cleaned up after themselves. They completed the work exactly as I had hoped it would be done and as the owner had explained it would be done. When I had a question during the time the work was being completed, I received a response within the same day that I asked the question. I rarely have things go right when I hire home improvement companies. I am thrilled and would recommend Coast to Coast who needs any sort of masonry work completed.

Victoria N. (Lake Barrington, IL)

EXCELLENT! Romen performed an inspection and provided a detailed quote with options. The work was scheduled and performed as agreed. Work area was completely cleaned up following the work (including the crew cleaning our gutters as a bonus). Romen followed up the day after the work to make sure everything was in order. By happenstance, we had unexpected heavy rain the night after the work was performed. Romen made sure any issues that were caused by the rain were corrected fully and spent several hours insuring the work was of the highest quality and perfect from an aesthetic perspective. We will definitely be calling Coast-To-Coast for any future needs.

Rod S. (Barrington, IL)

He did a fantastic job! His workers were very punctual and Roman checked in with us frequently. We appreciated his follow up. His office staff was very pleasant to work with as well. I can't recommend him highly enough. The mortar between the bricks was a perfect match. His quote was half that of others we received. He paid attention to detail and was careful of our plants.

Casmeir K. (Arlington Heights, IL)

He was very nice when he came out for the estimate and we decided to go with them. Coast to Coast was on time for the estimate, on time for the removal and installation of the new cement block and on time for tuckpointing and spraying my chimney. They also cleaned up after they were finished. In addition, I had on hand fourteen (14) bags of cement as I was going to put in a new 8 ' x 8' block myself - Coast to Coast was very receptive in using the 14 bags of cement so that I would not have to haul them back to Menards. I feel that the $2200.00 was well worth it - also, it was all done in one (1) day. Also, at the same time I was installing a new rose garden and had about two (2) cubic yards of cement, clay soil, and whatever else - who hauled it away at no charge, Coast to Coast. Would I use Coast to Coast again, definitely!

Gretchen G. (Gurnee, IL)

Romen returned my inquiry with a very detailed estimate. The manufactured stone on my 32 year old house is no longer available but Romen found similar product and his crew expertly blended the new with the old to achieve an excellent restoration. The work was done promptly, communication was great and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Susan A. (Chicago, IL)

Romen came out within two days of my original call and provided an email and hard mail copy of his estimate. Work was scheduled within 3 weeks. Crew showed up on time and spent 7 hours completing all three jobs. We have not had any rain since the work was done, so I haven't had the chance to test the success of the waterproofing work in the basement, but the foreman, Stanley, did tell me that it is possible a second coat of waterproofing may be needed, and to just call if there are any problems and they will come back and fix it. I have since recommended Coast to Coast to a friend, who will be using the company to rebuild two chimneys at his house.

Jeannine F. (Barrington, IL)

I got quotes for repairing it and Romen was competitive. He did an excellent job in a timely fashion and was neat, responsive, and professional. I would recommend Coast to Coast to my friends.

Arvind V. (Mundelien, IL)

Romen came in promptly the day after I called for an estimate and a week later I scheduled him to come over to do the job. The morning that he was supposed to come in, it was raining pretty heavy and he called nearly 3 hours after the scheduled time to tell me that he will come in only at noon because of rain. Although I was disappointed that he called so late, I can understand that there's no point in doing a job on exterior wall while it's raining. He came in at 1pm and finished the job by 5. The job was done clean, he didn't affect any of my plants, and cleaned up the area so there was no cement/mortar left behind. He reused some old bricks an left over backing from his other jobs; while I was not totally happy about, but at the same time he made sure they matched well. He assured me that if anything were to go wrong with the work in future he will come over and fix it for free. That was reassuring for me. He matched the mortar as well. So overall I'm very satisfied and would definitely reuse/recommend him.

Allison W. (Barrington, IL)

This work was extremely professional. The team showed up on time and worked all day. One of the partners, Stan, was there most of the day to also perform work and to supervise. After the work was finished and the chimney cap forms were in place, the team cleaned up so that the site was better than when they had found it. After this installation, we were away on vacation. While we were away, Coast to Coast came back to remove the forms and to seal the concrete. I am very pleased with this company's work.

Diane M. (Deerfield, IL)

Upon our OK the team began repair almost immediately. The pouring of the cap and all brickwork was completed in one day. Care was taken to protect the roofing and clean-up was excellent, i.e. gutters, vacuuming existing fireplaces for an debris that may have fallen etc. All scaffolding etc were removed within two days. In total we are very pleased with their work and the final charges were significantly less than other estimates. They also give a discount if you mention Angie's list.

Donna K. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Upon reviewing the problem, Roman discussed the necessary fixes, scheduled the work, showed up and completed the job in a timely fashion. He went so far as to do additional work at no additional charge to make sure that the problem was resolved.

Barbara D. (Park Ridge, IL)

Exactly as promised. On time arrival, courteous, professional tradesman, and quality work. Prompt responses to my phone calls, always a live human voice! Roman promised good mortar color match, we got it. Cracked windowsills repaired. Good cleanup. Company was recommended by my roofer, Avon dale Roofing. I checked on Angie's List and found good reports. The discount I received for being on Angie's List more than paid for my membership.

Gregory T. (Mundelien, IL)

Good quality work, the bricks and grout they used matched well. The price was quite a bit cheaper than the next bid. They fixed everything they found including several things not in the estimate.

Pam F. (Prospect Heights, IL)

We were very satisfied with Roman and his employees of Coast to Coast. Roman took the time to explain in detail exactly what was needed to be done and why. He said he would apply for the necessary permits from the city since he knew what they would be looking for. Roman's estimate was close to the other estimates that we had received. We really liked that Roman (Coast to Coast) uses employees rather than subcontractors to do the work. He also offered an additional 10% discount if we had everything done on his proposal. We did not feel the need to have the lower part of the rear chimney power washed but Roman still gave us the 10% discount anyway. His crew answered any questions that I asked in a way that I could understand why things had to be done a certain way. The city inspector was impressed with the quality of the work that was done. We are so pleased with the work they have done and are enjoying the look of the new chimney and maintenance that was done on the front chimney cap and by the garage door. We would use them again for any future masonry jobs and highly recommend them to others.

Vera S. (Wadsworth, IL)

Mr. Zajac's honesty, professionalism and pricing enabled us to quickly decide to choose Coast to Coast. They earned our highest reccomendation.

Chris H. (Wilmette, IL)

Romen and Coast to Coast did a fantastic job. They were always punctual and willing to take the extra time to answer all of my questions regarding the job. Their bid was competitive even though they were recommending to completely rebuild the portion of the chimney above the roofline while other companies wanted to try and repair the heavily deteriorated chimney. Once on the job Coast to Coast worked to the schedule, kept the site very clean, and finished on time. I can't say enough about what a pleasure it was working with Romen. I would recommend them without reservation and plan to use them again in the future.

Nancy H. (Lake Zurich, IL)

Apparently, my chimney had been struck by lighting. He was very thorough in his estimation of the work. He advised me to contact my insurance company because of the lighting strike. He was very professional and I would recommend his service to anyone.

Kathleen B. (Libertyville, IL)

Chimney had needed to be fixed for some time because the external surfaces of bricks were flaking off. Romen came out and gave us an estimate and explained two options we had. We chose to fix the chimney from roof line up. He later dropped off two bricks so we could see which ones he suggested. Work was scheduled, the job took two days and the crew cleaned everything up. The results are beautiful! We would not hesitate recommending his services to anyone looking for an A+ job.

Gretchen H. (Palatine, IL)

They are very responsive. Every time I called, someone answered the phone. I never had to leave a message. The crew arrived on time on the day scheduled for the repair and the work was finished the same day. At no extra charge, they caulked a crack between the brick and a wooden addition that we had not noticed (it was behind a downspout) on the initial walk-through. They cleaned the work site up very well. A week after the work was done, we were cleaning the windows and noticed a spot on a sill where the mortar had not been repaired - it wasn't visible from the ground. With no fuss, they sent someone out the next business day to complete the repair.

Mary M. (Chicago, IL)

Very well. Reasonable price quote, prompt service, good work

Marjorie O. (Arlington Heights, IL)

We obtained 3 estimates for this job and "Coast to Coast" was marginally the most expensive, but we felt so comfortable with Romen that we decided to go with his company. It proved to be the right decision. The job was scheduled in a timely manner for 2 weeks later and 3 workers arrived on the arranged date and immediately set to work protecting the work area and setting up scaffolding. They thoroughly ground out the old mortar and the color of the new mortar was an excellent match. A new cap was poured for the top of the chimney. They installed a new chimney liner and the other liners were inspected using a camera which was shown to us on the computer as it was performed. All in all, it was an excellent job , particularly since you cannot tell where the new work was performed. A number of additional items were performed like painting the flashing, replacing some rotten wood near to the chimney and a second chimney top liner was replaced without extra charge. This was a very pleasant and professional company with whom to do business. They did a really good job in cleaning up the site on completion of the work. Also, I particularly liked the fact that Romen sent us a copy of their insurance without being asked for it . I can highly recommend them.

Jerry F. (Itasca, IL)

Received a fast response when we called for a quote. We were pleased with the quote and the description Romen gave us of the work to be performed. Work was done in a timely fashion, and they answered all the questions we had. They even came back and replaced some bricks that we didn't like the color of. Romen also told us to call him if we had any problems with the work. We didn't have to pay until the job was completely finished, which was nice too. We highly recommend them.

Julie M. (Chicago, IL)

I used this company years ago, and they are still terrific! This company is excellent. They do the best work and stick to their estimates. They take photos while taking an estimate to make sure the work will be correct. He always follows up after his crew is there. They seem like old world artisans in their line of work. They just know what they are doing. I highly recommend this company!

Peter W. (Rolling Meadows, IL)

The job was done fantastically, very professional. We couldn't have been more pleased.

David M. (Prospect Heights, IL)

Coast to Coast did caulking of all my windows and doors and also performed brickwork repair in several areas of my house. They were professional and prompt in every way from the initial quote through the completion of the job. At the end of the job Romen, who gave me the original quote and who I assume is the owner, came out and fully inspected the job to make sure it was completed as promised. I was fully satisfied with their work and would highly recommend them.

Donna K. (Arlington Heights, IL)

We have been experiencing water problems in the basement of my in-laws home for some time. Coast to recommended an economical solution to the problem, resulting from a small crack in the basement wall. They scheduled the work in a timely fashion, arrived as committed and performed a clean, professional job. This is the second time we have worked with Coast to Coast and were very satisfied with the work the company did.

James B. (Lake Zurich, IL)

Roman reviewed the proposal with me to make sure we agreed on what had to be done and how. They arrived on time, did the work, excellent clean-up, came back two days later to replace TV Dish and review work with me. Fixed a shutter at no charge and did some additional caulking. Outstanding work!!

Madonna L. (Grayslake, IL)

Roman was punctual to estimate my chimney repair. He provided a detailed written estimate that was very competitive. The masons were on time, friendly and knowledgeable. The repair was completed within two weeks and as specified in the contract. I would use Coast to Coast again and highly recommend the company.

Mark M. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Romen was thorough with his initial inspection of the chimney, and provided a detailed estimate via email. We selected Coast to Coast over another company because Romen recommended lowering a digital camera into the chimney to inspect the liner, whereas the competing company assumed the liner would be bad, and recommended replacing the liner as part of their initial estimate. When Coast to Coast came out to do the work, they showed me what the camera saw inside the chimney liner, and made an honest assessment that it did not need to be replaced. The rest of the work was completed very professionally: they removed the old chimney top and poured a new one, repaired and tuckpointed the masonry, and replaced the chimney caps as the quote described. They cleaned everything up properly. Everyone from Coast to Coast was very friendly and professional, and the quality of work looks great.

Nancy L. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Absolutely phenomenal.... the most professional treatment we have received in ages!

Amy B. (Deerfield, IL)

We were very happy with them. We would highly recommend them. I thought that they were very good and very honest. They did not inquire a deposit. They didn't finish the work in one day so they had to come back a couple of days later. They still didn't even ask for partial payment, which I think was amazing. They did very good work and they were very neat and clean. They gave us an Angie's List 10 percent discount on the price. They came out and gave us a quote when they said they would. They wrote it up immediately. They were very efficient. They came when they said they would come. They were right on time. They were immaculate. They did not ask for a deposit and did not ask for even a partial payment until they were completely done. They cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional and very polite. We would use them again in the future.

Collin C. (Chicago, IL)

It went well. Very quick response and they did a great job. Through a communication with my association, we ended up sending them two checks. They called to let me know, and mailed the other one back. Very trustworthy.

Ben W. (Highland Park, IL)

They were very quick to come out and to see my house and submit a proposal for the work. The proposal was well written and price was fair. The owner and his manager were very good about adjusting the work during the job as I requested new things to be done. They wouldn?t leave until I was completely satisfied

Tony R. (Glenview, IL)

We called a number of masons that appeared on Angies List. Many did not return calls or only did cleaning not repairs. Coast to Coast was on time, thorough and very clean.

Wow, were they guys great! As a home owner it is such a pleasure to deal with a company that you feel you can count on to do quality work. I wouldn't hesitate to use Coast to Coast again, or to recommend them. We have interior stone walls in several rooms (I think limestone) that were half finished in multiple areas, had mismatched mortar colors in various spots, and had cracks or crumbling mortar in multiple areas. Romen from Coast to Coast was the second company we had in to give us an estimate, and right away I could tell that he really knew what he was talking about, he wasn't just trying to make a sale. Romen was very professional and polite, he even took notes to ensure everything I wanted was in the estimate. The quality of work was excellent, it really amazed me how well they matched the existing stonework to make it look seamless. If I didn't specifically tell someone where the new work began and ended, no one would be able to point it out. They chipped out the mismatched mortar and replaced it with a color match to the rest of the existing mortar. Not only that, but when the crew left everyday, the rooms they were working in were cleaner when they left then when they got there! The house was spotless everyday. I had forgotten about several spots I wanted them to complete, and half-way though the job when I asked them if they could also do these sections that were not on the original estimate, they were so customer friendly it was amazing. The crew took in stride and acted like it was all part of customer service (even if did mean making a second trip to get more stone then was originally measured for). Long story short, the work was phenomenal, the customer service was excellent, and the price was very fair and reasonable. This is a solid company I would highly recommend.

Called COAST TO COAST after calling four other companies for est's COAST TO COAST had the best est for the work to be performed.Romen Zajac arrived on time and explained what needed to be done,The chimmy was in bad shape he explained exactly what it needed and his crew did it.He dropped off two bricks for me to pick for best match the crew showed up on time performed the work in two days. They cleaned up as they worked made sure no damage or debris on my neighbor driveway which is close to my chimmy.Roman and his Crew did excellent job, would not hesitate to recommend COAST TO COAST any of my friends.

Troy S. (Oak Park, IL)

The repairs went smooth. I called Roman who came out and inspected the chimney and provided an estimate within a few days. The crew come and rebuilt the chimney as described in our written proposal. In addition to the actual chimney work, Roman replaced a few missing shingles on our roof at no charge, and he also dropped a camera down our chimney to see if we needed a liner installed. Previously, a chimney sweep company, not related to Coast to Coast, told us we needed to have our entire chimney relined at a cost of around $1500-$2000. After reviewing the linear, Roman informed us that our existing linear was in great shape and that a new linear was not needed for any part of our chimney. Roman also picked up the required work permit for this job, saving me a trip to city hall. We were very satisfied with the work of Coast to Coast Masonry and they will be the first company we call for any future masonry work.

Susan R. (Winnetka, IL)

I was diving down a street when I saw a 100 year old brick home, like mine, which had beautiful tuck pointing. I stopped and asked the owner who they had used, and they said Coast to Coast. I checked them out on Angie's List and found they had wonderful reviews. We had 3 bids on our home, The owner, Romen, was by far the most knowledgeable and professional, even though we had a cheaper bid, I was confident, Coast to Coast was the right choice. When the crew arrived, they were very hard working, courteous and very neat and tidy. Stanley, the site manager, was very professional. After they had finished he had come back to follow-up on the work, making the finished project beautiful. This company is very good, I wish there were more companies like Coast to Coast, they take pride in their craft, the customer service is outstanding. I plan to use them again and would recommend them to anyone.

Barbara P. (Chicago, IL)

Using resources from Angie's list, I contacted three masonry firms for bids. A "freelance mason" had recently knocked on our door and pointed out that the tops of both our chimneys were crumbling and explained what kind of damage might be expected to the contiguous parts of the house if it continued to deteriorate. We knew about the deterioration - but not how seriously it was affecting our home. The three companies came out and inspected the chimneys. Two of the companies seemed to do thorough inspections, going up on the roof, examining the interior of the three fireplaces venting through the chimneys. One company did only an external inspection and said that was all they needed to do in order to determine the extent of the work needed. Roman, from Coast to Coast, took the time to explain why he was inspecting each area, what he was looking for, why remediation was/ was not indicated for that area, why he would choose remediation a versus remediation b, materials that were options, laid out the pros and cons of different choices, gave a time frame of start to finish days necessary to complete the job, explained why he advised against doing the masonry repair during the cold weather, invited my questions and completely answered my questions.  He also explained that once he offered a bid, that price would remain through the spring (which is when he suggested was the most appropriate time to initiate this type of job) and would not require a deposit to "hold" it.  From start to finish, Roman was professional, extremely knowledgeable about what was needed, low key in his presentation and friendly in his demeanor.  The other company that also did a thorough inspection also explained their process.  However, they recommended that even more work be done and were less accommodating with answers when questioned.  I had done my "homework" re chimney repairs prior to contacting any of the companies and had a fairly comprehensive idea of what might be necessary.  Roman was the only contractor who willingly gave me an understandable rationale. Factoring out the additional work suggested by the second company, the bids varied from high to low. Coast to Coast was in the middle. Actually, I think I had really made up my mind even before the bids all came in.  I had read the reviews about Coast to Coast prior to contacting them and liked what they ALL reported.  Of the contractors I met with, Roman was definitely the most professional and knowledgeable. I also liked the fact that he has his own crew and doesn't use subcontractors. Once we decided on a start date, Roman gave us the name of the foreman who would be in charge of the actual work and crew but also let us know we were free to call him at any time if we had additional questions or concerns. The crew arrived on the contracted day in April, worked the entire day, and cleaned up everything before leaving. They did this for every day they were here. Although some of the work required the foreman, Stanley, to be in the house, I hardly knew he was here because he - and his crew worked so quietly. Every member of the team was a gentleman and a pleasure to have working on the project. Stanley explained- every morning- what work would be accomplished that day. At the end of the day, he told me what work had been completed. He kept me informed every step of the process and always inquired if I had any questions. I never had questions because he was so informative! He also expressed obvious pride in the quality of work performed by his team. Prior to accepting the final payment, Roman wished to know if we were satisfied with the overall job done. Absolutely yes! Roman and his Coast to Coast team are heads above any other company I have used for a major project - and I have had some wonderful companies here. I give them an A+++ from my first phone call to my final payment!  They did everything and more and I feel we received more than our money's worth. They are not just a masonry company, they are true craftsmen. Thank you Coast to Coast.

Charles P. (Kildeer, IL)

Wonderful experience.  They were extremely professional, did great work and cleaned-up very well.  Roman explained the process well and made great recommendations.

Gilbert W. (Arlington Heights, IL)

When I first contacted Coast to Coast, and given an estimate. An accurate assessment of the damage to the brick and window sill was provided.  However, the additional damage due to rotten floor boards beneath the bricks could not be seen. When it later became apparent that this damage was there after the brick was removed, a very reasonable estimate for the additional work was provided.  I agreed to the additional work and the job was completed for a fair price within less than a week after the contract was signed the original contract.

Joel C. (Deerfield, IL)

Showed up on Friday 13th and took 3 days to complete the job as chimney took a day and stone ledge was difficult to reset as it was glued on.  2 men did most of the work and were very repsonsive as I had many questions being unfamilar with masonry work.   They were professional in responding at all times.   My only complaint was they did not have enough drop cloths and small pieces of stone and cement fell in my landscaping.  When the job was finished I called Romen to tell him I was happy with the work but some stone remained in the landscaping surrounding my house.  Romen took care of it and had 3 men at my home within 2 hours to clean up.  They spent an hour sifting thru the dirt picking up any remaining debris.  I could not have asked for a better response time to the situation. Masonry work can be noisy and messy for those of you who have never had it done.  Although the job took a day longer then I anticipated, I was more than satisifed with Coast to Coast.  Romen's quote to complete the job was spot on.  He is a gentlemen and a pleasure to deal with.

Carol B. (Barrington, IL)

Romen Zajac came out in late March to give us an estimate on replacing the cap on our chimney before we replaced our roof.  We were also unsure about the condition of the rest of the chimney.  Roman was polite and professional and not only checked out our chimney but checked the condition on our entire brick house.  He told us that the chimney needed some tuckpointing but the rest of the house was in good shape.  I pointed out a few small mortar cracks by our front door and asked if they could be tuckpointed after doing the chimney and he said it was no problem. After we chose our roofer, the roofer told us to have the flashing removed around the chimney so any repairs could be done before he put new flashing on.  We brought this up to Roman and he had no problem with it.  The Coast to Coast crew came out on a Saturday and was polite and efficient and went right to work.  When they removed the flashing they found that some more tuckpointing needed to be done.  When they were done, they caulked the tops of the baby tins to insure we would not get water in the house should it rain before the roofer started.  They also used a camera to check the condition of our flues and said everything looked good.  The crew came back three days later to remove the forms for the concrete cap and apply the sealer.  The project went smoothly and we were very pleased with the experience.

Michael B. (Mundelien, IL)

My overall experience with coast to coast was fantastic. I received estimates from 3 different companies and coast to coast had the best solution at the best price. From start to finish the coast to coast team was punctual, professional, and just plain great to deal with. Both employees that I had in the house took special care to be clean.  They treated my 2 very friendly cats with respect, even though the cats were non stop trying to get into their lap while they were working. The work was completed on time and it looks great with no more leaks. Not only did coast to coast have the best price for the 2 caps to be replaced but they also at no additional charge repaired a damaged damper and repaired some damage to the fire box. I would strongly recommend coast to coast to anyone in need of masonry type work, and I plan to call them in the near future to work on interior veneer for the fire place.

David L. (Chicago, IL)

Carrie B. (Winnetka, IL)

Romen was prompt with a thorough bid after inspecting the house and chimney. The work started as soon as the weather allowed and seemed to go without a hitch. The end result is a chimney that exactly matches the house as if it was the original. Overall we chose Romen over other bids because of the price and completeness of the estimate, it spelled out exactly what we had talked about. When there was a small secondary job that was overlooked, Romen immediately appologized for the oversight and came and spent time completing the work himself in a very professional manner.

Wendi B. (Buffalo Grove, IL)

It was a great experience working with Roman and his crew. Roman showed up on time for the estimate and was very honest as to what we needed. The crew was immaculate at cleaning up the outside of our house as well as the inside.  The crew wanted to make sure we had no questions as to what was being done. They were there for us and not just for themselves as a job.

Arlene G. (Northbrook, IL)

They were very accommodating, and wanted to please me. Did everything they could to to an outstanding job.

Ryan W. (Buffalo Grove, IL)

Overall, it was a good experience working with Coast to Coast on this project.  This was my first time working on a masonry project so I had a few questions even though this probably was not a complicated project for the company.  After talking to Romen the first time, he came out within two days to give me an estimate.  Romen was easy to talk to and answered all my questions.  An estimate was given to me on the spot and one was also mailed to me.  My intention was to get two more bids but after talking to Romen and reading the company's reviews on Angies List, I decided to bypass other bids and use Coast to Coast.  The two man crew that worked on my project were very nice and I liked how they showed me the outside hole before they sealed it.  Coast to Coast did a great job and I would definitely use them on my next project.

Note: $700 cost includes Angies List 10% discount.  Coast to Coast guarantees the work for two years and did not require a down payment.

Jason B. (Woodridge, IL)

Roman came to do the estimate and was very detailed and honest on what needed to be done.  He took time to show me and prove to me where he saw the problems.  Estimate was very fair with competitors.  Work is being done exactly how it was described and with professionalism.  Their work is very detailed,  I don't see any corners being cut.   Stanley and work team are very friendly and listen to your observations on the job and input.  At the end of each day they clean up and put back everything how it belonged.

Thank you Roman and Coast to Coast.

Liza W. (Kildeer, IL)

Fantastic company to work with.  I've recently purchased a new home and had many contractors working on projects.  These guys are the best (and I've had some good ones thanks to angies list). Romen is very helpful and professional.  He helped us by giving an over the phone estimate before we closed on the house to help with negotiations and then came to give a final quote after purchasing our home.  His crew was very good, respectful, and did a quality job.  They were very honest and I really trusted their opinion. Romen very clearly described what was a fire hazard vs. more optional repair instead of trying to do as much work as possible. I need to do my roof and Coast to Coast is going to come back out to fix up the flashing (no charge) once the roofing company is finished.

I will recommend to neighbors and friends.

Marie G. (Hawthorn Woods, IL)

We are very pleased with the results. Roman came out to do the estimate and was very personable. A crew of about 2-4 guys came to do the work. I was very happy to see that we could not tell where they had tuck pointed because the new mortar matched so well. This was something I had been worried about. Another company had performed work on our home a few years ago and everywhere they tuck pointed you could really see it. Coast to Coast was able to re-do the poorly matched tuck pointing as well as completely tuck point all the areas we needed to have done. Everything matches so well. I was very pleased with them and their service and would recommend them.

Pam L. (Highland Park, IL)

They were on time, totally thorough, and went above and beyond what was expected of them. They cleaned up after themselves and just did an overall teriffic job! They caulked around the windows which wasn't included in the contract, and did everything they were supposed to. The brick wall which is the finished product looks great! The price was extremely fair and we were given an Angie's List discount and senior citizen discount. We were so pleased! They were extremely professional and I would highly recommend them.

Lindsey A. (Libertyville, IL)

We are very pleased with their workmanship and professionalism. They did an excellent job for us in April. At no additional charge, we recently had them back out to fill one last opening in our brickwork where we saw birds flying in and out.  Excellent customer service!

Barbara G. (Evanston, IL)

I received an in person estimate and Romen answered all my questions.  He carefully explained the process and timeline.  The workers were very nice and did the work exactly to plan.  It does take about a couple of weeks for the company to come out and do the work.  But it was scheduled ahead of time and there was no real rush.

James G. (Hawthorn Woods, IL)

A couple of years ago it was brought to my attention by the company who usually does our chimney maintenance every year that we would need the top portion of our chimney rebuilt.  At the time I requested our present chimney service to give me a quote which I later found out to be way too high. I put off doing the chimney repair until this year.
I searched Angie's List for 3 good rated companies. To my surprise one was the chimney service I had been using for the past 5 years.

My first call was to Coast to Coast Masonry. I spoke to Roman Zajac who was very pleasant and accommodating on meeting me for the inspection and estimate of rebuilding the chimney.

Roman arrived on time and proceeded to unload his ladder and went up to the chimney to do the inspection. After the inspection Roman sat down with me and explained in detail what needed to be done. I expressed my concern with matching the bricks and mortar to the original chimney. He assured me he could match the bricks. I was very impressed by his thoroughness and detail of the work that was to be performed. I noted everything we talked about in my notebook just in case the contract he was to send me had a discrepancy. I told Roman that I will keep him in mind and had a couple more estimates from other companies that I wanted to interview with.

I set up a estimate from the next company and they never even knocked on my door. They just sent a person out who didn't even have a ladder to inspect the chimney and proceeded to send me a estimate for tuck pointing only. I never even considered this company.

So a couple of days later I received a contract via email and mail from Roman. To my delight every aspect of what we talked about was in the contract word for word. This was probably the most detailed contract I have ever seen. It listed in detail every step of the work they would be performing. I was really impressed.

In the meantime I had called my usual chimney service and they showed up and proceeded to give me a quote much higher than Coast to Coast quote, so my decision was to go with Coast to Coast.

I called Roman and told him I would like Coast to Coast to do the work and I would send him the contract via mail to start work.
Roman gave me a start date a couple of weeks out and we were all set.

A couple of days later Coast to Coast came out to measure bricks for size and color. Stanley was the guy who came out and he seemed very detailed in measuring and sizing up the bricks. Stanley showed me a couple of bricks he had brought with him for my approval in color.

Day 1-  Coast to Coast came out and started the work of demolishing the top half of the chimney. It was noisy but that's to be expected. My concern was just how messy was it going to get?  It looked like most of demolition was almost complete after the first day. Once they left after day one I went out to the work site to see what kind of mess was left. To my delight the crew had cleaned everything up and kept the area very organized. I was also happy that they protected my air-conditioning unit from any debris that would have fallen into it.

Day 2- The remaining of the demolition was completed and the rebuilding process was started. After a few rows of bricks had been completed I noticed that the new brick and mortar did not seem to match, I immediately called Roman to express my concern and he came right over to check on the situation. As I am not a masonry Roman assured me once it was all dry it will match the rest of the brick. I told Roman that I will trust his judgement on this so it was a wait and see situation.  Coast to Coast even replaced bricks in the corner of another area of the chimney going that extra mile. Once again the after the day 2 the crew kept the area clean and organized.

Day 3- The rebuilding continued and by then I could see by now the bricks after partially drying from the day before were beginning to match the rest of the chimney, I was relieved. The chimney was mostly completed on day 3 with the exception of the cap.
Again the crew kept everything clean.

Day 4- A few days had gone by due to some rain and time to let bricks and mortar to dry, Coast to Coast returned to complete the the cap on the chimney and to finish up some tuckpointing on the rest of the chimney. Coast to Coast came back a couple of days later to apply the water seal to the entire chimney.

Overall I was very impressed with the way Coast to Coast did the job at hand. I highly recommend this company. The honesty of such a company is very rare these days and it truly was a delight to see Coast to Coast performing a honorable service.

Thank You Coast to Coast.

Jennifer K. (Wilmette, IL)

Roman was prompt, courteous, honest, and professional when he came by the house to determine what work needed to be done.  He was one of only 2 people out of 7 who actually got onto the roof to get a closer look at the chimneys that needed the work.   He was also one of only a few contractors who said they could find matching bricks for our project.  The quote arrived quickly, was very detailed, and neatly presented.  He dropped off a brick for us to approve before any of the work started and we were impressed at how close the replacement bricks actually are to the existing, tricky to find, bricks.  The crew showed up at our house on time, did fantastic work, and left the site tidy when they were finished.  I will use Coast to Coast again should the need arise and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to have masonry work done.

Carrie C. (Evanston, IL)

Roman was very easy to work with.  He gave me a number of repair options and even threw in a couple of extras (tidying up someone's prior work).  My house has a distinct mixed brick pattern and I was worried about how it would look after it was rebuilt.
Coast to Coast was able to match the brick work exactly.  Very pleased.

Barbara H. (Libertyville, IL)

Romen came out promptly to give us a quote on tuckpointing & a small repair on our 40 year old house. The quote was slightly higher than another quote we received, but he was so positive and eager to get the work done, we decided to go with him. Our other quote had also included a repair to our concrete chimney cap, and Romen was willing to add that to his quote without additional charge.
He also noted that a limestone sill below our back door had shifted and added that repair as an option for current or future repair as needed.
His workman was prompt, professional, pleasant, and cleaned up well after himself, and did a very good job with the details of the work. Our only complaint (initially) was that the color of the mortar was too dark in some places to match the old mortar. Romen sent his workman back out to apply acid to the mortar to lighten it within a few days. It helped somewhat, but there were areas that were still very obvious to us. We were a bit frustrated and thought that it would never be right and were reluctant to have them come back out to have it "made right". Romen patiently convinced us to allow them another try to get it right. He sent his partner out quickly, and he used tools and brushes to scrape down the new mortar a small amount, and 'magically' it was then nearly perfect.
We are very happy to have used Coast to Coast, as, in the end, the job was very well done. We suspect that most companies would have said that the color match was close enough initially, and certainly would have given up after the second attempt. Romen was tenacious enough and was willing to keep at it until we were completely satisfied with the work. He even said they would return again, and grind out the mortar and start again if necessary to get it right. We can't remember the last time we dealt with a company that was willing to go so far to make their customer completely satisfied. We HIGHLY recommend them.

Mark T. (Mount Prospect, IL)

I met with Romen from Coast to Coast last night and feel I can really TRUST him.  He came to visually inspect our chimney and the liners and gave me a very fact-based, informative, and honest evaluation. He went the extra mile with everything he did.  He took pictures of inside the chimney and showed me the situation. He drew diagrams to help me better understand how the chimney should / should not look.  He then continued on with explanations of what to watch out for with other contractors and common areas where they try to take advantage of customers.  His ultimate recommendation was that our liners and chimney are fine and we do NOT need any work.  Yes, he actually turned down work in order to maintain his positive reputation and uphold his high ethical standards.

Gayle S. (Elburn, IL)

We dealt with Mr. Roman Zajac, company secretary, and person that came out to inspect and complete bid.  All were pleasant, punctual, polite.  The bid turnaround was 24 hours.  The job was done neatly, quickly, clean and organized.  Roman answered all my questions quickly via phone and/or email.

I had 3 bids.  One was close to Roman's price but the painter did not return calls; the other bid was twice Roman's bid.

We were pleased with this company and have recommended them to our neighbors/friends etc.

Jeff R. (Skokie, IL)

Coast to Coast Masonry is a professional company from start to finish.  I found them on Angie's list and then contacted them.  They promised to come out for an estimate on a certain date and a certain time.  On the date we had agreed to meet for the estimate they called us about 30 minutes prior to our meeting time to let us know they were on their way and would be there slightly early.

The very next business day I received a fax copy of the their estimate (an original followed in the mail a day later).  They gave me two options, one to just paint the existing chimney cap and 'clean it up' and the 2nd option to totally replace the chimney cap.  I opted to replace the chimney cap.  I selected the option on their quote and faxed it back.  The owner contacted me that same day and negotiated a date to come out and perform the work.

On the day before the agreed upon work date I received a call from the owner reminding me that they would be out to my house the next day to perform the work.  I wasn't sure my wife would be home but the owner assured me that it was all outside work and there was no need for anybody to be there.

THey came out the next day and performed the chimney work, quickly, efficiently and NEATLY!  They had even found a roof shingle that was missing during the estimate and brought a replacement shingle and installed it.  When I arrived home that night I was impressed to see the work completed and NO MESS left at all.  It was almost as if nobody had even been there.

Additionally, during the estimate, my wife had spoken to the estimator and mentioned that we had some bricks on the face of the house with mortar missing.  I didn't even know she had spoken to them about this.  That night when I was looking around she mentioned to me that she had spoken to them about this.  I told her it wasn't on their quote so they didn't miss anything.  However, on Monday I emailed the owner and mentioned this to him.  He responded immediately and was totally embarrassed that he had indeed spoken to my wife about this and then forgotten to put it on the quote.  He told me, in his email, he would have somebody out to our house that afternoon...and the add'l work would be no charge.  I responded that I did not expect the work to be done for free and to please send me an invoice for the add'l work.  HIS response was to reemphasize that he would not charge me for the work since he had forgotten it in the first place.  Later that afternoon I was working from home.  The bell rang and there was a Coast to Coast employee letting me know that he was taking care of the missing mortar.  He left about 30 minutes later...with the work all complete.

You can't go wrong working with a company that is THIS professional AND still believes in (and practices) good customer service.  From this point forward I will be using Coast to Coast for ANY brick, roofing, and masonry work.  I would recommend ANYBODY needing these types of services to look no further...hire Coast to Coast.

Mary C. (Libertyville, IL)

From a quick professional telephone appointment set up to end, we would definitely use Coast to Coast again!  On the day of initial consult, Lake County experienced a big storm that took out power for several days.  We did not expect anyone to show up for our scheduled appointment.  However, not only did someone show up, he called 15 minutes before the scheduled time to say he might be late due to traffic lights being out delaying traffic!  He was on time, knew what we wanted, knew what to do but still said his partner would return to get exact measurements (which he did).  On install day the work was done quickly, efficiently and the end product looks perfect!

We did have an issue with two windows that were vented and couldn't be installed as originally planned due to a beam in the basement ceiling.  We were told they could get material from a local home store to rebuild the windows onsite & also suggested another way of reusing the same unit (which is what we did).  That's a  professional mason!

Jason F. (Kildeer, IL)

Coast to Coast were able to work within my very tight schedule, did excellent work and were very professional.  I especially appreciated how they were proactive in the communication with me regarding scheduling and estimates.

Jessica C. (Park Ridge, IL)

I cannot say enough about Roman and his crew, they were extremely professional and did excellent work. We were under a very tight time frame to tuckpoint and repair some brick on the front of our 1925 house. I called Roman and he came out with in a day to bid on the work--two days later his crew and he were here to complete the work. The repair work looks fantastic and the motar matched very well with the existing motar. We strongly recommend this company and plan to call them if we have additional work in the future. Thank you!

Mark P. (Chicago, IL)

Romen was very punctual (early) and got us the estimate.  As soon as the weather cleared their team came in and repaired chimney.  It took two seperate visits due to damage.  Everything was completed on time with great communication.  Great company, reasonable prices, solid value.

Burton K. (Northbrook, IL)

Went well.   There was not a match for our bricks.   Coast-to-Coast did a nice job hand coloring lines on new bricks and re-using some old bricks to match existing brick work.

Tom M. (Chicago, IL)

The big problem was how to get inbetween the two buildings where water was starting to permeat the brick at the foundation. Romen gave me a menu price, due to my concerns and limits with spending.  It arrived quickly by email and followed by hard copy.  I initiated a portion of the work, and they proceeded.Even with bringing in a very small tuckpointer to get between the buildings, they were only able to get back 18' from the front.  Romen and his team then arranged to install flashing and gutters the whole length of the building to prevent water from going in between the buildings, with no charge for the tuckpointing on the east wall they did complete, and for the same price as what that would have cost. They indicated they will continue to think about how to get the rest of the brick/tuckpointing repaired in the meantime, but were confident this would prevent any more water infiltration for the time being.  They were efficient, quiet and always on time.  The work in total took three visits and the other brick/tuckpointing work is completed and looks fine.  I just recommended him to another project for one of our clients.

Note that Coast to Coast was the fourth contractor from here on Angie's List to bid the work, and the only one who provided a complete quote and attempted to do the difficult work between the buildings.  Two of the other three did not even provide numbers, when they said they would and disappeared, the third was the other highest rated for my area on here, and called to say that they could do the other accessible work, gave me an outline of what should happen to the work between the buildings, but passed on that portion of the work as they felt they could not address it themselves.

I was more than pleased that Romen stepped up to the plate, made no unrealistic promises, yet did what they could to resolve it.  I am sure if Coast to Coast comes across a very tiny tuckpoint person, I will be getting a call and would welcome his team back to finish the east wall tuckpointing.

Michael L. (Kildeer, IL)

Romen and his crew are terrific.  The did great work at a great price.  When we moved in, we got quotes from a few Angie's List members, including Coast to Coast.  Romen's quote was the most professional we received, and we had it within a day of his visit.  His quote was also $2,000 less than a competitor's quote.  The competitor had written up a quote for more work than was needed.  Romen respected our budget and suggested we simply recaulk flashing for now, rather than replacing it all (which would involve quite a bit more work and would have cost us about $700 more).  He suggested we wait to replace flashing when we re-do the roof, at which time the flashing has to come up anyway.  His quote outlined exactly the work Coast to Coast would perform, and it included details like "we will use tarps to keep work space clean and we will clean up daily".  He detailed the specifics of what materials would be used and what process would be followed.  Coast to Coast was out almost immediately to start work on the chimneys.  It was mid-summer when they came, and he and his crew worked on back-to-back 100 degree days on the roof, and in the attic in the case of the attic fan they installed for us.  They were courteous from start to finish, and worked quickly and dilligently.  They picked bricks that matched the existing brickwork on the chimney so it appears seamless.  They inspected the structure of our chimneys all the way down into the attic, and looked at the insides with a camera.  They helped us save more money, too, by letting us know the flues did not need the attention of a chimney sweep because they were clean already.  They went out of their way to help us, especially with the attic fan install, which is not something we would have thought a masonry firm might do.  They did a great job installing it.  After doing all their, they cleaned up the space well.  Then a few days later they came back out to see how the concrete was curing.  Romen also offered to help install whatever fireplace we bought as part of our contract for the fireplace job.  At his own initiative he called twice to see if we had purchased one so he could help put it in.  After telling him we had to pass on buying a fireplace because we had spent all of our home improvement money, he offered to come help and put in damper at the top of that chimney to help keep out the elements until we decided what sort of fireplace to put there.  He came out and did that work without charge.  Really a great service experience has come out of a project that seemed somewhat mundane.  Thanks, Romen!

Gail G. (East Dundee, IL)

He came out and gave an estimate. They were very prompt and he told me when he would come to do the work and that is when he showed up. He did a great job with the work. I thought they were very good.

Chris B. (Palatine, IL)

Barbara C. (Hoffman Estates, IL)

Prompt call back.  They came out a few days later.  They were busy but said they could do it in a few weeks.  That was fine because  we weren't in a big hurry, just wanted it done before winter.  They called on Friday and asked to come on Saturday around noon.  The concrete corner is perfect.  The brick looks great too, they even replaced one of the bricks that was cracked by the builder (matched perfectly).  Overall great job.

Jeremiah B. (Bartlett, IL)

Received several estimates.  Romen was the only one to show me the problem.  There was a gap between the foundation and wall where water and condensation had gathered over the years, causing the problem.  He explained that just tuck pointing was a quick fix and showed me where the studs at the base were beginning to rot.  He explained a  detailed solution.  Leveling the concrete foundation, replacing the rotten 2x4,  Taking several of the extra bricks and filling in a circular hole left form a old removed space heater.  He also caulked my stoops, around my dryer vent, and meters.  And repaired small cracks in the corners of my foundation.  Sent me a proposal by email and the U. S. Mail.  Advised me by phone of the time frames.  Walked around the repairs to make sure I was satisfied. Old world service and craftsmanship!

Chris S. (Glencoe, IL)

A large tree fell into the front of our home as a result of a bad windstorm that swept through the region.  The resulting damage left a 12" hole through two layers of brick between our attic and bedroom windows.  Romen arrived promptly at the agreed upon time and did a thorough walk through of the above repair and other items that may need to be addressed around the rest of the all brick house.  After receiveing quotes from 2 other companies I decided on Coast to Coast to handle the tree damage repair and to brick in an old icebox pass through.  The scheduling was easy and work performed in a reasonable time.  The mason perfomed the work diligently on a Saturday and went above and beyond.  He cut away fascia boards that were hanging and filled in small cracks in our porch with the extra mortar.  I will be using Coast to Coast again in the spring to perform other masonry repairs.  Wish all contractors were as professional as Coast to Coast.

Sandra B. (Hawthorn Woods, IL)

I asked that they do it in a specific way and they did exactly as I asked.  They were prompt, nice,  did an excellent job in a timely manner and cleaned everything up.  I would definitely hire them again.

Paul D. (Libertyville, IL)

They were good and competent people. The workers got right to work and I didn't have to watch them. It has turned out that the work has been pretty good. They were kind of in the middle on the price. The price was appropriate. They weren't ultra cheap or anything like that but you get what you pay for. They were really responsive. He had the best proposal as far as being the most detailed proposal.

John R. (Glen Ellyn, IL)

Everything was an A overall except for the weather.  Too bad they couldn't control that too!
Roman arrived at the scheduled time, looked over the chimney, took pictures,  and took a piece of brick to match.  He was friendly and professional.    He gave me an estimate verbally.  I received two other estimates from other masonry companies.  His was in the middle. He sent me a formal  written proposal in the mail the next week and the same proposal via email. Signed the proposal, mailed it off and scheduled the work to be done.

The mason came as scheduled, set up scaffolding, being mindful of the landscaping, and positioned boards off the scaffolding so he wouldn't have to walk on the roof.  I inspected  the work in the evening each day and saw how extensive the damage was. They replaced quite a few whole bricks.  The mason thoroughly cleaned up the area around the scaffolding and on the roof.  There  was no splattered mortar or chunks of debris anywhere.

Some key points about this job were how well the new bricks and mortar color matched the old. The house was built in 1959.  You would be hard pressed to pick out the replaced bricks. Also, all the mortar joints were the same.  There weren't some thin or thick and there weren't any odd size chunks of brick stuck anywhere.  Roman and the mason were very professional.  Besides the workmanship, I was impressed by the fact that Roman made a follow-up call to see if I was satisfied  after the work was completed.  Too many businesses seem to be afraid to do that.

Tanya D. (Chicago, IL)

Coast to Coast was professional throughout this process. The bid they provided was the most complete and professional of the 6 companies who gave us an estimate. They're incredibly responsive to phone calls and e-mails, and it's very clear that they care about the quality of their work and about keeping their customers happy and informed of the progress of the work being done. The workers were always on time, and they always cleaned up behind themselves. This was a huge project, and it took about 3 weeks to complete. I would highly recommend Coast to Coast.

Carla C. (Mchenry, IL)

From the initial phone call to get an estimate to the completion of the job this company was professional and their service is great.

Anita K. (Chicago, IL)

I was impressed with Romen and with Coast to Coast Masonry from the very beginning.  Romen was professional on the phone, arrived for the estimate exactly on time, was timely and precise about arranging for the actual repair, and the repair was done very well.  I had a slow leak from the joints between the top of my window and the stucco.  Ice would get into the joint, melt and then seep into the ceiling of the 3rd floor bedroom.  I received several estimates, but Romen impressed me most with the precision of his analysis of the problem, and his description of his solution.  Other contractors said things to me like "yeah, we'll seal it up for ya", and left it at that.  Romen was also an excellent communicator via email and cell phone.

Romen's two guys who did the repair were very professional and very thorough.  I also got the added bonus of waterproofing the scupper and the brick around it, since they were up there.  They had to set up ladders and scaffolding in part of my garden, and they were very careful not to step on plants and harm the garden.  They were quick and efficient - I didn't have to take the whole day off from work, and was in the office by lunch.  I would recommend Coast to Coast Masonry to everyone, and would use them again without hesitation.

Holly S. (Barrington, IL)

I must start with how professional Romen and his team were from begining to end.  Great care was taken to make all tarps, ladders,

scaffolding, bricks, & debris confined & neatly kept. I was very pleased & excited with the new chimney, thanks to Romen who suggested the color of brick to use and the skill with which it was built.  Romen, also, found that one of the doors which he was to replace in the base-ment, could be fixed by putting an angled pipe connected to another pipe would work better which would elminate the use of this door.  This is the door which was problematic with allowing water to flow into my basement during a rain storm.  He closed the opening with brick and concrete.  Another problem solved!!  Then he and his team found that leakage was coming from below the foundation of the chimney, which required them to dig below the chimney and correct that problem.  This was not part of the estimate, but was fixed at no extra cost! Another problem solved!  I was thrilled with Coast to Coast Masonry - I would diffiently hire them for any masonry work I needed done.  I thank Romen and his team.

Nancy S. (Chicago, IL)

The job was quite small and I had difficulty even getting people out to look at it because it was such a small job. Romen came out in September 2011, even after I told him that the job was very small. He was on time for the day of our estimate and was very pleasant. I was eventually able to secure two other bids. Coast to Coast was in the middle in terms of cost, but given how Romen treated me as though I was doing a $10,000 job, I opted for Coast to Coast.

Because Coast to Coast Masonry was pretty busy, Romen couldn't schedule me until a Wednesday in November.  I was fine with that, because I just wanted to make sure it was patched in time for the winter.  The Monday before my repair, Romen called me to reschedule for that Friday instead because a job they were working on was going to take longer than expected.  Now how is that for customer service?  Tell me how often a contractor is that proactive and I'll tell you how many times I had seen a leprechaun in my lifetime until that day:  zero.  With that lead time, I had no problem rescheduling my work-from-home day.

The day of the fix the person (did not get the gentleman's name) showed up on time.  He was there for a few hours and did a beautiful job.  He was able to match the mortar to my existing mortar.  You can't even tell that there was a repair in that area.  I opted to wait through the winter before reporting, as I wanted to make sure that the mortar held up during winter's vicious freeze/thaw cycles.  The work is quality and the customer service is absolutely outstanding.  These people know what customer service and quality service is all about.

Steven B. (Palatine, IL)

The work was done well and even though it was spot tuckpointing, there was no obvious color difference between the original masonry and the new tuckpointed work.I have also used Coast to Coast for another project about a year ago - chimney repair and waterproofing. I was impressed with their work at the time and it has held up very well over the past year.I would highly recommend them- I had multiple people quote the chimney work last year and they were the most promt, most reasonable and had the best overall solution to my issue.

Marcia B. (Evanston, IL)

Before remodeling our basement, we needed to make sure that the foundation was in good shape before we put up new insulation and drywall. Coast to Coast was able to come on short notice and did an excellent job. They were on time and professional. When we needed an additional area done, the mason went the "extra mile" and created a brick-like surface to match the section where the brick was going to remain exposed.

Yusuf K. (Lagrange, IL)

I initially spoke to Romen about the project and he came out the next day to give me an estimate for the project.  After I received the estimate he came back out and we discussed the entire scope of the office renovation.  He was very thorough with his quote and even brought out his foreman to discuss any questions I may have.  I awarded them the contract and they started work immediately.  All the work was done safely and professionally.   He was able to complete the job in my time frame and did not charge many any change orders.  I was very happy working with Coast to Coast and would definitely hire them on future jobs.

Connie H. (Western Springs, IL)

Romen met with me within a day after I called, and provided me with a very detailed quote with costs for each job, and explained every aspect of all three jobs.  I had 2 meetings with other contractors (one higher and one lower quote), but only Romen explained the difference between new brick work and restoration work.  He spent much more time going over the details with me and really observing what he would need to do than any other contractor.  He noticed water on the basement floor under the cement porch floor and found a small crack causing the problem, which he had his crew fix.  No other contractor noticed it.

Our house is 90 years old, and we were concerned that the large front porch and chimney would look new.  But the crew dismantled the porch and usable bricks were cleaned and re-used, as was the chimney.  The porch had two layers of brick--inside and out--and dismantling and reconstructing was a very big job.  The Coast to Coast team were very professional, and careful not to hurt shrubs and plants in the area of the porch. One of the men even dug up hostas in the area and transplanted them so that we could use them again later!  All the work took 6-1/2 days, and they worked on Saturday.  The greatest compliment we can pay Romen and his crew is that it's difficult to tell that any work was done because they did such a fabulous job restoring our old house.  We're absolutely thrilled with the job Coast to Coast did--thank you!

James K. (Mount Prospect, IL)

Romen Zajac responded to my request for an estimate within one day of my call. Romen was very pleasant and knowlegeable and took a thorough walk around my entire house identifying additional areas of concern like the window sills that I had not noticed needed attention. Romen provided some options in handling the work and took precise measurements before he left. I received a very detailed estimate by email within 2 days and a copy in the mail a day or two later.  I really liked getting a couple of options for the flower box repairs which was the most involved repair. I received another estimate from a competitor and basically received a one page, two line quote. Coast-to Coast provided 4 pages describing exactly what they were going to to do and the costs for each item along with a copy of their certificate of liability insurance. I was very pleased with the estimate. Work started a week later. (the other company estimated 6-8 weeks out).

The work took around two days and the workers were really nice and very neat, using dustless grinding equipment and vacuums. I couldn't be more happy with the results. House looks like new! Interestingly, Romen came back without being asked to look over the work. He found a few areas that needed to be matched a little better (looked fine to me) and the crew was back the next day for a little touch up.

The entire process was flawless from start to finish and the price was extremely competitive. Communications were excellent through both email and the telephone. I would highly recommend Coast to Coast Masonry.

Doug W. (Chicago, IL)

I was amazed when the crew showed up on the scheduled day, completed all work to my satisfaction, cleaned up the area, and did an overall great job.  I shouldn't be supprised when someone does the job they contract to do but it is becoming a rare event.  I would recommend Romen and Coast to Coast for anyone needing masonary repair.

Leo C. (Park Ridge, IL)

Stanley from Coast to Coast came to my home at the agreed upon time and provided me with a general idea of what work would need to be done. He followed that up with a detailed written estimate that was emailed to me a couple of days later. The work crew showed up on time and started immediately. They blended in the new work on the brick joints nicely with the rest of the house. Our home is over 80 years old and the look of the work was very important to us. I thought the cleanup was pretty good and overall they left the yard in very good shape. They took care to be mindful of the landscaping surronding our house.

Kim L. (Prairie View, IL.)

I would recommend Coast to Coast to anyone who asked.  I needed a new chimney as my house is 70+ years old.  I called for a quote and spoke with Romen.  We set up a time and his partner Stan showed up as planned and I had a quote the next day.  Since I was also getting my roof replaced, Romen worked with me to ensure that there was no redundant work completed and money wasted on something that the roofers would pull up when they completed their work.  Because of our unpredictable weather, Romen decided that he would schedule the new work to be completed on a Saturday, just to ensure that he had time to re-schedule to the following week before the roofers were scheduled.  Saturday morning arrives and the truck arrives on time. The work is complete by the afternoon and everything is cleaned up, including the footprints made on the driveway. The concrete forms for the chimney top were removed by the next Wednesday afternoon as they promised. The workmanship is exceptional.  The team was professional, friendly and got the job done without issue.  They left the basement cleaner than how they found it.  If I ever need another chimney or mason work done, Coast to Coast will be the first call I make.

Amy J. (Libertyville, IL)

They were very communicative.  Their work was really beautiful and clean.  They were thorough.  They went above and beyond what I anticipated them to do.

Julie M. (Algonquin, IL)

The crew of two men were very professional...all business.  They arrived on time, and very very quiet and neat.  There were no remnants of the job left over afterwards.  The work was perfect, and the men were very courteous and listened to my concerns.  Would definitely hire them again!

Edward D. (Park Ridge, IL)

I found this company through word of mouth and he had good references. They were fast and I thought they did a very nice job and were helpful. I did not have any problems with their service. I will use them again in the future.

Nadya F. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Romen arrived on time and gave us a detailed consultation. He honestly explained that there was no need to do the work another company had suggested doing. We were impressed by his systemic approach and his sincere desire to find the best solution while saving our money. We highly recommend Romen as a knowledgeable, trustworthy professional and as a very nice person.

Frank A. (Lake Forest, IL)

They were very professional and did the work in a timely manner. They came back to make sure all the work was complete to my satisfaction and all at a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them. They are a top rate company.

Eric D. (Glenview, IL)

They showed up as promised.  They have very good pricing.  They did the work and I am very pleased with it.  They provide the most service for the lowest price.

Lynn P. (Hoffman Estates, IL)

Quote was received timely and work was performed within a week of receiving the quote.    Excellent job!   The work that was done looks great.   No gaps or cracks in the filler/cement that was applied.   No compliants - would use this contractor again

Dale R. (Chicago, IL)

I had 3 quotes through Angie's List.  Coast-to-Coast had the most reviews, and gave me the best price by far.  The two other companies (also highly rated on Angie's List) had estimates that were twice as much and three times as much, respectively. Romen Zajac came out and did the estimate.  He was on time and explained everything to me very clearly.  He emailed the contract to me within a few days of the estimate.
A crew of 4 guys came out on a Friday at 8am and had almost everything done by 4 that afternoon.  The guys were friendly and courteous and even helped move stuff out of the way inside the garage, which I should have had done ahead of time myself.  They repaired everything that was described in the contract, and even did several things that were  not in the contract, such as patching large gaps around a door I had replaced and sealing the 2" gap between the sidewalk and the house.  Sealing this gap down the length of the house was definitely not in the contract.  Romen said they would do it for free along with the rest of the work.  I had to insist on paying a little extra for the additional supplies, since they will be caulking over the mortar after it dries.
It was a very good experience.  Give them a call!

Ellen S. (Chicago, IL)

We got three estimates for the work and Coast to Coast was by far the most thorough.  Not necessarily the cheapest, but addressed all the issues we were having.  Romen spent a lot of time inspecting our entire building and layed out everything he saw that was an issue or could be an issue in the future, pointing out everything so we saw the problems, too.  He drew up a very detailed estimate and even ranked the repairs as to what really needed to be done now and what could wait a bit.  The crew was very prompt each day and worked incredibly hard, even working on Saturday to get the job done.  They cleaned up after themselves, too.  We will probably do the rest of the work in the next year and expect to have Coast to Coast do the job.  Highly recommended.

Debbie F. (Evanston, IL)

I contacted several contractors on Angie's list. Two came to our house to look at the job. Both submitted proposals. We selected Coast to Coast because they seemed much more knowledgeable and more interested in the details than the other contractor. They described their methods in detail while they were looking at the brickwork. The job was completed on time and professionally, and the price was quite reasonable. Several workers were involved in the project, so it went smoothly. The quality is outstanding—beautiful craftsmanship. It was all accomplished quickly with a minimal amount of disruption and mess. They cleaned up every day. Really an outstanding job! Do not hesitate to hire Coast to Coast for any sort of masonry job!

Neal R. (Evanston, IL)

All workers showed up exactly as promised and worked diligently to complete the job.  At the end, they did an admirable job cleaning up the work site, leaving no trace of their 1-1/2 weeks work.  The finished product is outstanding, as good as new (maybe better).

Bess G. (Glencoe, IL)

Roman and Stanley were punctual and professional. We walked around the house and I pointed out the problems I was aware of. I didn't know the chimney cap needed repair but the patio walls needed cleaning and removal and replacement of wrong color and crumbling mortar. The joint between the driveway and the garage needed replacing and there was a crack in the foundation of the planter wall.  We went over the whole exterior and agreed on what needed to be done.  An estimate for the work with a clear and detailed description was sent promptly by email and regular mail.  When I contacted Coast to Coast they gave me a starting date, I sent back the signed contract and they came promptly on the agreed upon day.  They did everything as described and I was very pleased with the matching colors, the neat work and the professionalism they exhibited. I would definitely hire them again,

Jill P. (Lake Forest, IL)

The work his crew (Stanley) did was perfect and solved the problem.  Stanley was very careful around my landscaping and the house to make sure nothing was damaged in the process.  He replaced the cedar siding over the flashing and caulked/painted it.  The work was well done.  Thank you Romen.

Barbara A. (Buffalo Grove, IL)

After a few days of calling, requesting an estimate for repairs,Stanley came out and gave me full details of what needed to be done & the estimate was far better than others I had received I immediately asked Coast to Coast to do the job. They came on the date that I was told work would start, even though it was it was 100 + degrees. The work was finished in 2 days. The 3rd day Stanley returned to do a final clean up & to make sure I was satisfied with the job. There was one area of the brick work that I felt "didn't look right" He immediately called his workers & they were @ my house within 15 minutes & redid the area to my complete satisfaction. I would definitely reccommend this company

Robert P. (Elburn, IL)

Cracks in concrete cap allowed water to leak inside chimney and cause spalling of bricks due to freeze thaw cycle.  Found Coast to Coast on Angie's list and they had high marks so called them for a quote.  Was reasonable for the size of the job and had them do the work.  First time they missed one brick further down the chimnew that was just starting to spall.  Owner returned promptly and replaced that brick same day he came to inspect the work.  Great job.

Bill B. (Mount Prospect, IL)

The owner, Roman, came out for the estimate. He told me in detail what would be done and he impressed with his confidence in whathad to be done. He then gave me a quote and told me that the problem with the brickwork would be solved for the price.  He then sent me a formal proposal outling everything we had discussed via e-mail.  I called and he said he would send me a contract. He sent me the contract with the 'Angie Discount', I signed it and a few days later I received a call to schedule the work.  When they were almost finished I received a call from Roman asking how I thought it was going. Very impressive to have the owner take such aninterest in how his crew was doing.

Sarah G. (Chicago, IL)

There were a few spots missed on the initial job, but the owner, Romen, immediately came over and verified the missed areas and his people came back and finished the job quickly.  Romen was in constant contact with me and came over several times to do an inspection with me, spending hours testing out not only the brick/stone, but also various trouble spots with the roof.  At one point, I identified a potential issue with our scupper boxes that was not in the original project scope, but Romen offered to fix it without an extra charge.  I highly recommend Romen & Coast to Coast.

Glen A. (Libertyville, IL)

They were pretty professional and they did alot of work for the money. They really did a nice job.

Sylvia S. (Chicago, IL)

Romen came exactly on time, found the source of the problem (which NO one else had been able to do), gave me a very detailed plan for repair and gave me an approx. price.  He followed up in the next week with an estimate that was HALF of what another company had given us.  The work started exactly when promised and was done in 2 days.  Upon completion he called me and told me to wait until we got rain to see if there were any additional leaks.  We DID have 2 leaks that I found that following week and that same day Romen's partner came to see the area.  He found an additional area that had not been visible when they did the work and told me it needed a couple of days to dry out and then they would come back on Saturday to fix.  They came first thing Saturday morning, did the work and told me to call them after the next rain.  It rained Tuesday and the garage was bone dry!!  I am SO pleased with this company and the workmen.  Not only would I use them again but I would HIGHLY recommend them!  Honest, caring and professional - THE BEST!!

Jen L. (Skokie, IL)
We had contacted Coast to Coast about a year ago, right after we bought our home for an estimate on replacing the chimney. At the time, the work did not seem to be an immediate need and so we decided to put the work off for a year. When I contacted Coast to Coast to come out again, they were prompt and thorough and even remembered being at our home a year ago. Romen commented on how different our backyard looked from the previous year. We went over all the things that needed to be done on the house - the chimney, the bricks around the garage and the foundation work. He went over each item and discussed what would be the best way to proceed with each problem. He sent an estimate right away and we agreed on a date to do the work. The guys showed up right on time and got to work right away. They tried to protect our lawn and landscaping as much as possible with tarps. They even cleaned up chunks of brick that had fallen into a flower bed.Since the house is 50 years old, Romen had warned me that the brick color/style might not match exactly, but that they would do their best. The bricks that they brought for me to choose from were so similar to our house, that you can't even tell the difference. They fixed the leaks in the foundation and the last time it rained, there was no water in our basement.I would definitely use them again, if needed.
Mark V. (Evanston, IL)

From my first meeting, I was impressed by Romen's extreme attention to detail and ability to explain the work that was needed.  Once the work began, the crew was on time each day and left the yard immaculate before heading home.  The work and craftsmanship exceeded my expectations and Romen made sure every detail was completed to my exacting approval.  After the work began, I asked Romen to do some additional work that was not included in the original bid, including repair and replacement of brick that had been previously cut by a roofing company.  The work and brick replacement was completed for no additional charge!  I cannot say enough about my experience and wish that every contractor was a conscious about its customer's satisfaction as Coast to Coast.

George M. (Chicago, IL)

At first I was somewhat disappointed because the new wall was slightly lower than the old wall leaving a gap between it and some woodwork.  However, the vendor came out and installed a limestone cap on the wall to raise the height and it looks great.  I'm very happy with the outcome and have recommended this company to friends.

Michael S. (Chicago, IL)

I was thoroughly impressed with both the professionalism and the work performed by Coast to Coast.  Top to bottom I felt like each employee of Coast to Coast was there to make sure that I was happy with the way to job went.  Especially the owner of the company, Romen.  If I wanted something either redone or done a certain way, his answer was always, "whatever you want we will do".  That's the type of service that is sorely missing in not only the construction/trade industry, but most businesses.Since the work was performed, I've had roofers out to the building for an unrelated issue.  They commented that whoever did the coping work did a great job.  I've already given their name out to two other condo building presidents and if they're smart, they'll use Coast to Coast.

William B. (Highland Park, IL)

Great.  The company was very responsive, competitively priced and kept in communication throughout the process, even when the weather required delaying the work a few days.

Michael E. (Chicago, IL)

I would like to express my 100% satisfaction with Coast to Coast Masonry. In quick review I had a very difficult brick replacement project for my loft in Chicago. Prior to picking Coast to Coast Masonry I interviewed 6 other masonry companies in Chicago and without a doubt Coast to Coast Masonry was THE BEST. I met with Roman the owner of Coast to Coast to review the project scope and get a cost estimate. Roman impressed me as being professional and having an excellent reputation within the industry and on Angieslist.com. Roman provided a good estimate for the project so I chose him to get the job done. The Project Manager for the job was Mark who managed the project / team from start to finish and did a great job! The project took a total of 4-days to complete and included the replacement of 5 major brick sections within a loft with 21-foot high ceilings. The brick that was replaced by Coast to Coast is a perfect match to the existing 100-year old brickwork within the loft. In summary I would highly recommend Coast to Coast Masonry for any brick replacement or tuckpointing project needed within Chicago. Look no further if you need a brick contractor in the Chicagoland area - choose Coast to Coast Masonry!

Elizabeth S. (Brookfield, IL)

Had a problem with concrete at base of chimney. It had cracked and moved away from the brick. Minor issue. Other places I called didn't want to come out or the one that did couldn't do the work. Coast to Coast came out right away, gave me options that were reasonable, and did the work promptly.

Michael B. (Chicago, IL)

I have to say I was very nervous before the project because this 2 flat is my home and my biggest investment.  It was really hard for me to come up with the money but I had to do it to protect the building from futher damage. I found great reviews on Coast to Coast Masonary and had a good feeling that I was going to pick them, I decided to get another 2 estimates just to be sure.  Their price beat both of them and after talking to Stanley and Roman they assured me that they would do a great job and make me happy.

The project completed yesterday and they did a incredible job on the building!  I was walking around the property multiple times with a smile on my face and I was feeling really relieved that I chose Coast to Coast.  My neighbor accross the street from me has a building just like mine, I mean twins same brick and style.  He tuckpointed his building a few months ago and it really looks terrible, this proves to me how important it is to use Angies list to find a good company like Coast to Coast. As a matter of fact I signed up for Angies list for that very reason. Is it possible to find a lower price, I am sure you could but I think your better off spending a little more money and getting quality work done that will look good and protect your property for years to come.
Coast to Coast " Thank you for your hard work and honesty "

Michael D. (Wilmette, IL)

Absolutely fantastic.

Juyon H. (Chicago, IL)

Coast to Coast was prompt and accommodating of our busy schedule with the estimate as well as the actual work.  They were always courteous and professional.  We would recommend them to others and call them again for future masonry-related work.

Ni H. (Hoffman Estates, IL)

The job was done fantastically, very professional. We couldn't have been more pleased.

Cynthia B. (Evanston, IL)

We were very pleased with the service--Coast to Coast was very prompt, responsive and professional. The work was an excellent value.

Brian T. (Evanston, IL)

The work went great. The workmen were efficient, worked quietly and neatly, and did a great job. While we opted for the lowest of their three estimates, you would never guess it from the quality of the work. I was especially impressed when the company called me to reschedule our appointment because of a rain forecast for the day we had booked, explaining that there could be issues with the mortar if it rained after the work was done. It is such a relief to work with such an honest company.
We were impressed with the work, overall, but especially with how well they colour-matched the tuckpointing to the original masonry. You can't tell we had work done - all you see are clean lines between the bricks. It is a 100% improvement.

Michael B. (Wilmette, IL)

Coast-to-Coast provided a quote promptly in response to my request.  Romen explained what needed to be done and why, using photos taken on the roof to demonstrate the problems.  They started the work promptly and finished on time. The workers were polite and professional.  The work site was cleaned at the end of each day.

Karen W. (Clarendon Hills, IL)

I received an estimate on three different things - chimney rebuild, tuck pointing, and foundation cracks.  We chose to use Romen and his crew for the masonry jobs - chimney and tuck pointing.  I was on the schedule for about 3 weeks later.  There was a 2 man crew out the first day to do the chimney and prep for the tuck pointing.  They cleaned up after the first day.  The second day 4 guys were out working for half a day and the original 2 for the second half of the day.  All work was completed in 2 days which was what I was given in the original estimate.  They removed the shutters to check the brick underneath.  They removed old nails and other objects protruding from the brick.  It looks amazing.  You can't tell where holes were and it matches so well to the old mortar.  My husband keeps checking spots he knew were in bad shape and he keeps saying, "Wow, these guys are good."  We highly recommend Romen and Coast to Coast for anything involving masonry.

Jason G. (Chicago, IL)

The crew that performed the work was great to work with. The were highly professional, polite, spoke English, and were punctual daily. Everything in the quote was performed without exception. Romen, the owner of the company, was very responsive to questions and input. I would highly recommend this company to friend and family.

Theresa B. (Arlington Heights, IL)

The work was done fairly quickly and they set up and cleaned every day.  It was as the weren't even there.  You can see that they took their time making sure the work was done correctly.  I had some bad flashing and they repaired it.  The brick matched exactly, even though the house is about forty years old.

Rick S. (Wheeling, IL)

I was very impressed with the quality of their work.  They did not overcharge.  They even patched up some extra repair spots in other parts of the house that were not in the original contract.  I would not hesitate to use this company again.

Lynn S. (Barrington, IL)

The owner, Romen, was on time, personable, and really knew his business. He is a true gentleman and did exactly what they said they were going to do. They did a fantastic job. I had an emergency arise unrelated to the chimney, but to the brick on my home, and they completey fixed the problem, insulating the hole that was found and re-bricked the area. They came on very short notice for this issue. They really helped me out, and did a great job. They did a favor for me by understanding what the problem was and being willing to come that day to help us out.

Gregory S. (Arlington Heights, IL)

They were prompt, professional and did good work.

Arnold F. (Deerfield, IL)

Perfect respone. Perfect Quote. Perfect repair. Amazing.

David K. (Evanston, IL)

Coast to Cost were the best to work with. We had them come out during the summer to look at the scope and limitation of the work to be done and were presented with an estimate. We received estimates from two additional companies that made an assessment of the problem areas and work required to eliminate the problem. In the autumn we had Coast to Coast and one of the other companies come out to reassess the problem and ultimately chose Coast to Coast because of their flexibility in scheduling the work to be done. Both companies we looked at seriously were highly rated on Angie's List and were comparable in price.
The work was to take slightly longer than a week. The workmen arrived on time each day and worked all day until dusk. Each of the lintels were removed and replaced and waterproofed. Damaged masonry was replaced as needed, and the final lintels were painted to match the rest of the building. The work crew cleaned the entire work area when finished and were very accommodating to our needs.

Frank H. (Northbrook, IL)

Coast to Coast gave an honest appraisal of what needed to be done in repairing our fireplace chimney and to make it safe for use. The work consisted of tuckpointing the exterior brick fireplace, building a new chimney cap and tuckpointing the interior firebox. The workers were on time and kept the job site neat and clean. It took approximately 11/2 days to complete the job.
I am very satisified with the work and look forward to using our fireplace on cold winter days.
I would use Coast to Coast again.

Timothy C. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Apart from our deteriorating chimney, we have always had the issue that when a fire is burning in the 1st floor fireplace, a strong smell of smoke is evident in the basement.  Other companies tried to sell us a stainless steel liner for the 1st floor fireplace flue (at a cost of >$2,000) based upon the assumption that the smoke was transferring between flues within the chimney due to cracks between the flue tiles.  This didn't make sense to me, as only minor cracks were evident between a couple of flue tiles upon video inspection.  Besides, behind the flue tiles and between the two flues is a layer of masonry which should prevent smoke transfer between flues.
Romen suggested another approach, which was to seal off the top of the basement flue, based upon the assumption that the smoke was being pulled back down the basement flue due to negative pressure created in the house as the fire burned in the 1st floor fireplace.  This made sense to me.  We did a test using a plastic bag over the top of the basement flue while a fire burned in the 1st floor fireplace.  No smoke smell in the basement!  The permanent solution was the installation of the energy top damper on the top of the basement flue, which was completed in October.
The scheduling was no problem, and the two workers that came out were professional and tidy.  I will update my review when we have the remainder of the work done in the spring, but for now we are pleased and highly recommend Romen and his Coast to Coast team for their punctuality, knowledge, competitive pricing, and professionalism.

Toby Z. (Chicago, IL)

It was one of the smoothest experiences I have had with a contractor. They were punctual, professional. explained everything, cleaned up well and finished when they said that they would.

Joe R. (Arlington Heights, IL)

It was obvious how knowledgeable Romen was when it comes to bricks, mortar, and chimneys.  He supplied a competitive quote and stuck to his schedule.
His people did a great job and the price was as quoted.
Highly recommend him.

Donna M. (Oak Park, IL)

They were by far the most cost effective estimate.  They were on time for the estimate appointment and the service.  They gave a clear estimate and the workers did exactly as directed without any surprise costs.  The workers were professional and friendly.  I would use them again if the needed.

John S. (Evanston, IL)

Wow. I have never been so impressed and felt so comfortable with a worker than I did with Romen and Coast to Coast Masonry Group. Not only did Romen know so much about chimnies, liners, and brick work but he was much more thorough than any of the other companies I had asked to come out and look at our problem. He took the time to see if we actually needed the work that others had said we needed at much higher prices (one of the other guys from Angie's List with "A's" had even told me I shouldn't even wait 2 days to get the job done after his quick assessment). It turns out we don't need the work done. I assume this is correct because 1. Romen explained in very good detail why he was recommending that and showed me on what he based his recommendation and 2. he made no money off it--and won't make any money off it. He saved us almost two thousand dollars when that money could have been his. But it doesn't stop there. He explained to me what I needed to do in order to keep things running smoothly with my furnace and chimney and then ended up taking a few extra minutes and doing it for me (and doing a better job than what I could have done, of course). He wouldn't even take a tip. Now I have no need to use him again and I actually wish I did---though I'm happy not to need the services!

Sandra C. (Palatine, IL)

Coast to Coast promptly responded to my call, coming out to inspect the work needed and quickly providing a detailed quote. They also noticed some additional work that I might need and provided recommendations and a separate quote for that. Once I decided on what I wanted done, they quickly scheduled and performed the work. I appreciated that they did not pressure me on the work I could not afford at this time. I was also very happy with the quality of the work, except for the color of the bricks they first used on the wing walls. When I pointed out that the bricks did not match the wing walls, there was no argument at all, Romen immediately assured me they would fix it. First they tried to stain the bricks to match, and Romen personally came out to see how it looked. We both agreed it was still not quite right, and the next thing I knew a crew arrived that same day and installed brand new bricks of just the right color.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with Coast to Coast and I would not hesitate to recommend them!

Lauren E. (Chicago, IL)

They came out the week before the job to do the estimate, we proceeded to book them for the work.  They showed up on time, did the work in a day, and cleaned up their equipement, etc upon leaving.  Their work is also guaranteed for one year.  With the winter upon us, we wanted to make sure we proceeded with this project before large amounts of snow melted on these caulked areas.

Patrick R. (Chicago, IL)

Romen came out and spent a good amount of time assessing the building and educating me about the condition of the masonry and suggested work to be done.  We received several quotes for this work (5 total) and Coast to Coast turned out to be the best comprehensive package for the money.  His crew came out on time, were very professional and did an excellent job.  The job was completed as negotiated along with some extra small work that the crew did for free.  I would definitely reccomend Coast to Coast to anyone having masonry work performed!!!

Kate D. (Chicago, IL)

The guys doing the work were nice and explained the work they did thoroughly.  I can't speak to their timeliness or communication process as my neighbor (fellow association member) managed the process.
Last night we had the first substantial rain since the work was done.  One of the windows around which flashing was installed is leaking again.  The flashing on the sliding door has held up but the water has come through the third floor porch, with water being redirected to the soffit between floors.  The water on the soffit was something the guy doing the work suggested may happen, but that he didn't expect any significant volume of water.  There was a lot of water weighing down the soffit and dripping from it.
So, the flashing didn't work 100%, but the good news is that Coast to Coast responded immediately to our call for follow up, and said any updated repairs will be done at no additional cost.  They have been very responsive and helpful.
I'm updating my review, now that the work is complete.  Coast to Coast did quite a bit of extra work that would outside the proposal, as the leaking was partially based on the original diagnosis and partially based on the poor flashing on the roof.  They came back and fixed the flashing on the roof, which we very much appreciated.
The water on the soffit is still an issue, but Coast to Coast was very responsive and asked us to call as soon as we find a time for him to come out and evaluate the leaking, so that we can fix it.  From a customer service perspective, I couldn't ask for more.  Many thanks, Coast to Coast!

Peter O. (Westmont, IL)

Roman called on the service day (today) and confirmed the appointment which was great.  He came out and explained in detail the chimney re-build that he recommended.  Despite some cold/slippery conditions he still ascended the roof to review the chimney.  He provided an ballpark figure of the work which was nice as it allowed me to make a decision today.  In addition he did go into detail on the mechanics of the job and the material.  I appreciated this approach vs. the dumbed down approach that prior contractors have given to me....With another contractor in the past I thought the person was going to pat me on the hand and give me a lollipop after concluding his sales pitch.  Not the case with Roman and at no time did I feel pressured to commit to his proposal.  Also of notes is Roman did not suggest anything major for the chimney section within my attic. Other companies despite there stellar work seem to suggest "extras"..

Elizabeth K. (Wayne, IL)

Excellent.  Romen showed up to give an estimate--and he was 30 minutes early.  He was totally knowledgeable--knew exactly what needed to be done.  He promised an estimate the next day by email--and we had it the next day as promised.  He gave us a variety of options and costs--and we could pick what we wanted.  The men started within 7 days as promised--.  All excellent.  They protected our home with dust shields.  Three men began the job and two men completed it.  They mixed 4 different mortar colors--and we selected the perfect match to the vintage mortar color. These men are craftsman originally from central Europe--and their professionalism is evident.   The job took all day--and when they left-- the work was better than expected.  They cleaned up every bit of mess and vacuumed.  The following day--the supervisor came back tot he house to inspect the job.  They turned a nightmare botched job into a beautiful fireplace.

Dane T. (Morton Grove, IL)

I would highly recommend this company to anyone.  The job was done very well . They value customer satisfaction, are very responsive, and professional.  The quality of work is also top notch.  I had gotten 5 different opinions and estimates on the work and their judgement seemed to make the most sense.  I feel that they did what was necessary and did not try  to convince me that more work needed to be done like some of the other companies I got estimates from.  I didn't have the money to do all the work but I got what was absolutely necessary and will get the rest done soon.

Maria T. (Gurnee, IL)

Roman arrived on time for the initial evaluation of the fireplace/chimney, which had several cracks and was also pulling away from the interior wall.  He inspected the fireplace/chimney, both interior and exterior, and also checked the basement (crawl space) to see how the chimney was supported.  No one else did such a thorough evaluation.  We then discussed some options after which I selected to rebuild the interior with river rock to replace the existing boring brick.  We also agreed to repairs to the exterior chimney, which was cracked and probably allowing moisture into the attic.  I received an estimate via email later that day.  We agreed that the project start date would be after Thanksgiving.
Due to the mild weather over Thanksgiving week, Roman called and asked if they could start early on the exterior work.  I said yes, even though I would be out of town.  When I arrived back home, the new chimney top (lip/overhang - whatever you call it) had been poured and the forms were in place, the tuckpointing and caulking had been done.
On the day the interior work was scheduled to be done, the mason arrived on time, followed shortly by the rest of the team and what I can gather was a supervisor or manager.  The initial job took 3 days to complete (hands on time), over about a week (total duration).
Day 1- Removed glass door assembly, mantle and all interior brick work.  Began re-building using river rock, framed out area for glass firedoor insert.  Completed ~1/3 of fireplace.
Day 2 - Continued build, re-set mantle.  After the day only ~20% area remained.  The frame was also removed from the exterior chimney overhang and the chimney was washed (or waterproofing applied?).
Day 3 - Team returned ~ 1 week later to finish the re-build, tuckpoint the firebox, place the limestone hearth and re-install the glass fire door assembly.
The team was professional and the mason took his time in selecting and placing the rocks in the mortar in a random, interesting design.  There were a few issues/challenges they faced during execution of the project and they worked together to solve them without impacting time or cost.  In addition, they did a great job in cleaning up each day.  After the job was completed, they even vacuumed the area.
The only area I see that could use improvement is communication.  It was a bit of a challenge to get information or clarification on what was happening during the process, as the team predominantly spoke Polish or struggled with English as a second language.  Luckily the youngest member of the team was a native speaker, so between him and the group leader, I was able to communicate with the team when necessary.
After the project was completed I noticed a few minor things that were not quite right (one edge of limestone hearth was not quite straight, mortar around glass insert wasn't the same color as the rest of the fireplace).  I was busy at the time and didn't call Roman till after the new year.  He and a few of the original crew came back the day after I called and they made the minor corrections, and, in addition, did a few more things that just made the fireplace look even better! (And at no extra charge!!)
Overall my experience with this company was excellent.

Greg J. (Northbrook, IL)

Very well. Will use him again if needed.

John D. (Waukegan, IL)

Romen came out and provided me an estimate very quickly.  He had the work done within a few days since we were going to have our roof replaced.  The chimney repair was fantastic.  It really looks brand new.  His worker came and did the work, cleaned up, and I am very impressed.
I would definitely recommend this company for any brickwork you need done.

Sandra A. (Warrenville, IL)

We contacted Coast To Coast for an estimate in early January after having to have our fireplace box replaced due to water damage.  They came out and we got their bid the very next day.  We had to wait for the weather to break (not such a easy thing to time this year) but unfortunately, the day we contracted for was cold and wet.  They came out on the first day but could only set up the scaffold due to high winds and rain.  Once they got started, this group was fast.  They removed all the debris and rebuilt the chimney, poured a new cap and tuck pointed all in 1 day.  They are super efficient, and did a great job on the cleanup too.  Can't say enough good things about this group.  You sometimes don't like to contract for this stuff but, their prices are very competitive and after the having this work, I can highly recommend them!

Randall P. (Bull Valley, IL)

Romen came to our home per agreed upon schedule and provided us w/ estimates on brick steps repair as well as repairing our fireplace where the firebox had to be re-bricked and replacement/installation of a damper.  He and his crew were professional, prompt and followed through beautifully!  I would highly recommend then for their professionalism and workmanship.

Brian L. (Glencoe, IL)

Coast to Coast did an excellent job, workers showed up on time and had a very clean workspace.  The owner, Romen, stopped by after the job was completed and looked over the work with me.  Romen noticed a few spots of masonry work that he wasn't 100% satisfied with.  Romen has his crew stop by the next morning to complete the job.  I like the owner Romen, he seems to take pride in making sure I was very happy with this work and I could tell he wanted everything to be perfect.

Christopher N. (Long Grove, IL)

He's prompt, reliable and always available before, during and after a project.  We had a small issue after his work was completed and he came back to fix the issue free of charge.  I completely trust his work and judgment.

Robert H. (Deerfield, IL)

Was less than any other estimate. Was prompt, courteous, did great work and cleaned up as well.

Carol N. (Chicago, IL)

Choosing Coast to Coast Masonry was the best decision I have made in a long time.  Romen was prompt, professional, patient and courteous during the entire process.  It is obvious that he and his partner, Stanley, really care about the work and want you to be completely satisfied.  Too bad they are masons exclusively because I would certainly hire them for all kinds of projects.

Peter U. (Hoffman Estates, IL)

Their proposal was very complete and they completed the job professionally, on time and within their original cost estimate.

John F. (North Barrington, IL)

Romen Zajak tried very hard to reach me, because I gave him an incorrect e-mail address.  He still found me within a day, and came to estimate the work the next day.  He was extremely polite and explained the scope of the work to my wife.  His professionalism was beyond reproach, and his estimate arrived by e-mail the next day, as promised.
We scheduled the work for the next week, and they completed the work on time and very well.  Romen is an active, enthusiastic professional owner of a well run business.

Martin N. (Chicago, IL)

They worked hard to address my concerns. I was satisfied with the outcome.

Stanley K. (Elk Grove Village, IL)

The entire job went very well. The new brick was matched as closely to the old as possible. Once started, the work proceeded on consecutive days until it was completed. The workers were polite, very professional, and communicated well with the customer. When the  work was finished each day, the working area was picked up and left clean and neat. We have been extremely pleased with the results of all the work performed, and felt that the price was very reasonable.

Steven M. (Chicago, IL)

all I have to say is A plus

Andy J. (Wilmette, IL)

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had with house repairs or maintenance.

Lynee C. (Downers Grove, IL)

Romen investigated my problems and wrote a comprehensive estimate that proposed solutions. While three other companies claimed that the damaged terra cotta liner could not be removed from the fireplace chimney without causing damage, Roman assured me that they could remove it and replace it with a stainless liner. The workers were extremely careful to protect my landscaping on the outside and to protect my furniture and floors on the inside. All work was done with professionalism and care.  A few days later a worker returned with the supervisor to remove the chimney cap forms and do additional work to complete the job.

I am pleased.

Susan L. (Grayslake, IL)

I contacted Coast to Coast after finding them on Angie's list. They were prompt at answering my telephone message but due to their workload couldn't come out to give a quote for a week and a half. However, when Romen came out to inspect, he was there on time and immediately put me at ease that he knew exactly what needed to be done. He went through the process of what was required and identified some small cracks that had been part of the cause.
The day of the job, he arrived with a man who was going to do the work, which was necessary because the guy didn't speak much English. Anyway, the guy was an obvious craftsman. He set to work and made a really nice job of the work. He was tidy and cleaned up after himself. He arranged to come back a couple of days later to clean up some of the mortar on the brickwork.
In the meantime I took a careful look at the wall and found another crack that none of us had seen earlier. Romen said that he would fix this when the worker came back to do his clean up from the main work. No fuss, no hassle.
Everything was done to my satisfaction. Good job.

Peter O. (Westmont, IL)

Roman came out on Christmas Eve 2102 and gave a thorough review of my situation and provided me with an estimate in a timely manner.  The work was done as promised in late spring.  Although I am not an expert on chimney rebuilds it looks good and if all the reviews I found on Angies list for Coast are representative of my job I should be in good shape. It is also worth noting I had placed in the contract that once the job was done there would be an inspection by the owner Roman.  He came today as promised and was patient in all my questions.  He even reviewed some structural questions I had on my foundation that were not related to the work done. He stress frequently for me to contact him if there was ever any issue and he would stand behind his work.  I would definitely use him again if I have masonry work to be done.

Jessica D. (Northbrook, IL)

Romen came out promptly to survey the issues, and within 1 day I received a formal estimate by email.  I called to schedule the work for a few weeks later.  At the time work was supposed to take place, his crew came out to do the work as discussed.  The were prompt and polite, and they cleaned up after themselves when they left.  Two days later, his crew returned to remove the concrete forms of the chimney crown, clean the chimney stack, and install the flue caps.  Again the were prompt and polite.  After the work was completed,  I received a final invoice via email, and Romen made sure I was happy with the work.  Everything was great, and our chimney went from a D- to an A+!

Jeffery J. (Richton Park, IL)

It was such a small job, they actually performed the work at no charge. I was pleased and look forward to working with them in the future.

Brian L. (Chicago, IL)

I got 10% off from Coast to Coast Masonry Group Inc. As far as I know, they told me it was 10% off. I guess, it hasn't rained yet. So, I need to find out if it holds. In general, I liked them. They were professional, courteous and quick. They gave me other options to solve my problems. They came on time and cleaned up when they left. They were very good. I certainly would use them again in the future.

Barbara T. (Naperville, IL)

They were wonderful. I really liked them. He was a wonderful guy. He had really good suggestions and his price was really fair in comparison to other estimates I got. It looks beautiful. He did a really good job. It was a big chimney and they took everything away and hauled it all away. I don't know how he did it but it looks great. It is not leaking anymore which is great. It was a lot of work and it was on a 90 degree angle.

Charlene W. (Mundelien, IL)

I called Coast to Coast and spoke with Romen. He came to my house on time and was very professional.  I informed him about the water seepage problem on my fireplace that occurs when it rains. After his inspection we discussed what needed to be done. He said he would send me an estimate. I received the estimate and decided after a few weeks that we should proceed with the project. The work was performed in a professional manner. Unfortunately, after we got another rainstorm the water did reappear again. So the problem wasn't quite resolved. I called and talked to Romen and told him that we were still having an issue after the work was done. He was so polite and understanding. He had his office call me back and schedule a date for someone to come take a look and perform a water test. As the water test was being done, BINGO - the water was reappearing where it had been doing the rainstorms. The gentleman that was here to fix the problem was very professional and was determined to resolve the problem. Maybe the extra caulking, etc. he did helped because we have had a few heavy downpours and not one drop of water seepage. I found Coast to Coast to be very conscientious and ready to stand behind their work. I would highly recommend them.

Bill B. (Mt. Prospect, IL)

It went better than expected. Work was performed very professionally. Workmen were great and cleaned up. You could not tell there was any repair to the brick. Great job!

Carol N. (Chicago, IL)

This is the second time I am using Coast to Coast Masonry Group.  Stanley promptly came out to advise about basement waterproofing and gave me three helpful suggestions to improve exterior water exposure for the house (since I told him I was not prepared to do any extensive interior work, if needed).  One of his suggestions was the sealing and caulking around the driveway side of the house and front steps.  The other two helpful suggestions are to be done by people other than masons.
Needless to say, the job went smoothly, it looks great and got a compliment on how the caulking looks.

Carol W. (Skokie, IL)

I wish all our contractors were as professional and easy to work with as these folks. From the estimate right through to getting the work done, Coast-to-Coast was professional, punctual and unobtrusive. The proposal was delivered on time, the work was immediately scheduled, the workmen showed up exactly as expected and completed the work much faster than we expected. The quality of the work met our expectations as well. Great job overall.

James B. (Des Plaines, IL)

Job went well.  Workmen came within 1/2 hr of start time.  I am pleased with finished work.  They did good job cleaning up mess inside and outside house afterward.  The next day Romen, the owner, dropped by to check work and asked if we satisfied.  He aims for 100% customer satisfaction.

Janile H. (Chicago, IL)

Excellent experience, from the estimate to job completion.  The estimate was very thorough, made an assessment of the entire house, including going up on the roof to examine and photograph the chimney.  The price was reasonable, and we especially appreciated that the estimate included materials.
The work was completed by a crew of skilled craftsmen, who worked everyday until the job was complete.  They cleaned up every day and didn't leave any mess behind.
They even replaced some mismatched bricks at no extra charge.
I will call them again the next time I need masonry work, and I have already recommended them to several friends.

Eric R. (Glen Ellyn, IL)

The experience I had and will continue in the future with Coast to Coast masonry was very pleasant and professional.
Romen is very professional and makes sure you are 100% happy with the work. He came out to my house twice prior to starting the proposed work. He offered great ideas and went out of his way to answer all our questions for our ailing brick ranch.
The worked was performed by very hard working and courteous professionals. I was amazed at how fast they performed the work at hand and how great it looked.
We receive many compliments on the finish product from friends and neighbors and are very happy!
I have called Romen already to fix a few other areas around my house and he has responded very fast and professionally.
If I was in need of masonry work I would only want to deal with Romen and his crew!
Great job guys! Thank you Romen!

Paul P. (Palatine, IL)

Coast to Coast was competitively priced.Arrive promptly, just needed a water and electric connection. Upon completion a thorough clean up was done.

Betsy K. (Glencoe, IL)

We had the good fortune to find Romen and his Coast to Coast team on Angie's list.  Romen responded to our call quickly and brought such an enthusiastic and professional demeanor to his on site estimate.  He walked our entire property and did not look for ways to pad his estimate as so many contractors try to do when bidding in certain zip codes.  Romen provided us with two options as to how we could achieve our goals for this project. In doing so, Romen was considerate and not presumptuous when it came to our budget.  He has excellent knowledge of materials and procedures.  Romen mapped out an efficient work plan for his team and they were prompt and polite and it was comfortable to have them around our home for the time they spent here.  The masons were attentive to the landscaping and sprinkler system and disturbed nothing (which is very important to the author of this review).  The cleanup was immaculate and we only wish we could find more contractors like Coast to Coast who did not falter once during the entire process of working at our home.  Romen has excellent follow-through and brought the project to a close with a wonderful well earned smile when he came back to our home to register his and our satisfaction of the project by examining all the work provided.  We look forward to being able to refer Romen to our friends, clients and neighbors for their residential and commercial projects.

Henry S. (Wilmette, IL)

This was a major job which was completed on time and although it remains to be seen if the waterproofing was successful, the work was done efficiently and aside from the messy nature of grinding out old mortar with a minimum of mess.  The craftsmen arrived on time and vastly improved the look of the house.  Romen provided a thorough proposal after walking our property and educating us on the job we needed.  He was always available even though not onsite for the work but his supervisor was able to communicate any challenges which arose during the work.  I doubt that I will need this work done again, however I would rehire Coast to Coast again.  I recommend them to all Angie's List members that need their services.

Robert D. (Crystal Lake, IL)

The business owner, Romen Stajac, did the estimate.  He was prompt, curteous, and provided a detailed, price competitive bid, including an option to repair rather than rebuilding the chimney.  We got three estimates, and Coast to Coast's was essentially equal to the other low bidder, but provided more detail.  The other bid was about 40% higher, and rejected on a cost basis.  We chose to rebuild, rather than repair the chimney.
The crew that did the work arrived on schedule, and did a thorough professional job.  They left the repair site clean, and were friendly and responsive to my questions.
I would heartily recommend Coast to Coast.

Julie M. (Sleepy Hollow, IL)

We have hired Coast to Coast before and they always do a great job.  There is never a mess and the work is done perfectly and neatly.  We will return again and again due to that feeling of confidence we have with this conpany.  Romen, the owner, wants his customers happy.  That means a lot.

Peter O. (Westmont, IL)

In May 2013 Coast to Coast did a Chimney rebuild and tuck-pointing work.  They did an excellent job and I provided an excellent review in June for there work.  Over the week-end I noticed there was 12x12 section of tuckpointing I failed to mark as needing to be done when they were here in May.  Thus I sent an email to Roman to see if the hairline crack along my foundation wall could fixed whenever they were in the area.
In the email I stated I realized it was a small job and I offered to pay for what I assume would be 1 hours work.  I sent the email on Labor Day (09/02/2013).  I received an email from Roman on 09/03/13 in the morning and stating someone would be out in the afternoon.  In addtion there would be NO charge !  Sure enough someone stopped by and did the tuck-pointing this afternoon.  When I hired Coast to Coast initially in May it was based on the outstanding reviews found on Angies list in addition to my conversations with Roman.  Coast to Coast deserves all the accolades received and then some more.  They obviously have great commitment to service in addition to the quality work.  I am glad that I found Coast to Coast in Angies list and that my expectations were exceeded on all measurements.

Update - 09/07/2013
I was out looking around my house this week-end and was pleasantly surprised to find out Coast to Coast must have come back out again this week to paint the tuck-pointing done on the 3rd !  I never asked for them to paint nor was there an expectation for them to come back out and paint so what a pleasant surprise again.  Its nice to know that a skilled service orientated company still exist today.  Thanks Coast to Coast.

Sean H. (Chicago, IL)

Romen and his team were great.  Professional and responsive throughout the process.  Romen worked with me on the quotation process and adapted his quote to fit our needs.  After we decided to get the work done they worked with us on the schedule to get the work done ASAP.  Once work started, the team was prompt and got the work done cleanly and quickly.  They met the schedule even with 3 days of weather delay for the outside work.  Additionally, the crew identified some work that needed to be done on our parapet and completed the work at no extra charge.  Where do you find contractors that do extra work without extra charge?  Answer, you don't, Coast to Coast are just good honest people that value building relationships.  I would absolutely work with Coast to Coast again, in fact I am finally writing this review because I need to get a quote from them for tuckpointing.  I have no doubt that I'll be using Coast to Coast again.

Joel N. (Lake Zurich, IL)

The work was done in two stages. First the tuckpointing was done and allowed to set. Next the caps were installed and sealed on two flues. Men had all requried equipment and worked with minimum of interaction with home owner. All work looks excellent, and work area was neat and left as if they hadn't been there. They know what they are doing, they do it well, and are courteous as well. Recommend them with no reservations.

Michelle B. (Waukegan, IL)

Coast to Coast provided a very thorough and professional estimate. I would definitely use them in the future for any masonry needs simply based on my interactions with them over the phone and in person, the detail and thoroughness of the estimate, and responsiveness that was given. Although we ended up going with a general contractor that used his own masonry guys and wouldn't allow us to choose our own (long story) - Given the opportunity we would use Coast to Coast in the future and may actually be contacting them in the spring for some tuck point work that is needed.

Gary G. (Mundelien, IL)

The two man crew showed up at the exact scheduled time. The crew removed the old cap which had to be split into pieces in order to remove it. They then attached forms to the chimney and poured a new cap. After the cap was poured they tuck-pointed all the places that the mortar had fallen out. This crew was there for about 7 hours. They were very professional and clean up was excellent. The next crew came in 3 days later to remove the forms and wash the areas that were tuck-pointed. Again the crew was right on time and completed the task in an hour. Clean up and work again was excellent. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Tom E. (River Forest, IL)

Bid was less than others, turned up on time, demo took longer than expected so they worked on Saturday to catch up. Work completed for bidded price, and was well done.

Ray G. (Winnetka, IL)

Coast To Coast scheduled a visit to my house for a date about 5 days after I first called to request an estimate.  Roman Zajac came to my house punctually at the scheduled time.  After viewing my chimney, he told me what my options were.  He emailed a written proposal late the following day, providing me with 5 options for the various alternatives of chimney work that he and I had discussed during his visit.  it was clear and precise as to what my alternatives were and responsive to my questions and observations.  The day after I faxed my acceptance of one of the options set forth in his proposal, Coast To Coast called to schedule the work for the next following day. Two masons arrived at 9 am  on the day scheduled for the  work, erected scaffolding and, working industriously for about 5 or 6 hours, completed most of the work.  They returned for an hour or so 2 days later to remove the wood form used to pour the concrete, take down the scaffolding and clean up.

Adrinia W. (Chicago, IL)

Overall, excellant professional job! Timely customer service, clean, negoitable/competitive pricing and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend to a friend. Compared to other bids, they didn't just fix the visual problems, they recommended preventive solutions, as well.

John I. (Mundelien, IL)
Excellent job. New mortar was a perfect match for the 50 year old existing brick mortar. Water management system installed was spot on and built per code. Initial appointment was on time and work performed per schedule. Price was a little high relative to other quotes received but in this case I got what I paid for. Result on this custom job was excellent.
Len O. (Libertyville, IL)

Roman came to the house within two days of my contacting his company. He assessed the current situation, described what had caused the problem, recommended several options. Within two days I received a proposal with two options and additonal sub options, detailed scope of work and copies of his insurance certificate and followed up to make sure I received the paperwork. He was always available for questions regarding the proposals. Within a week after returning the paperwork scaffolding, ladders and other materials arrived at the house and the folowing week work began. He kept me fully informed as to the progress of the work particularly if there were days they would not be working. All work was done in an extremely professional manner, house and lanscaping protected, and site cleaned up each day. The new chimeny is outstanding. When done Roman met with me to review the work The proposal had inadvertently omitted sealing the chimney. Roman recalled it being discussed on the day we met when he viewed the existing chimney. He had his crew come back at no charge to apply the sealing. Bottom line extremely professional, outstanding craftsman, highly pleased with the work.

Mary D. (Evanston, IL)

Excellent service by all.

Kris W. (Roselle, IL)

The guys arrived on time, work very well done you can't even tell where the repaired are was, matched mortar very well, overall very satysfied will use them again, keep doing the work.

Mike S. (Lake Zurich, IL)

Roman and his crew did an outstanding job they did everything they said they were going to do  very prompt and
courteous I would definitely use them again.

Mark R. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Great job.  Worked hard to match the brick.  Romen was easy to work with and seemed devoted to customer satisfaction.  Chimneys rebuilt satisfactorily even though 8" brick was no longer available.  Excellent job replacing broken bricks on front of house and repointing areas where needed. They were also able to clean off all stains on the back and side walls of the house.  Definitely recommend.

Karen W. (Clarendon Hills, IL)

I really can't say enough about Coast to Coast.  We've had a number of water issues involving both our brick masonry facade on the first floor of the house and in our poured concrete crawl space.  Our house is almost fifty years old and was not well maintained before we purchased it, so we have had a number of very unusual problems.  Coast to Coast has successfully addressed at least five big problems we've had over the last two years including waterproofing our exterior brick, waterproofing the exterior of our crawlspace foundation, and tuck pointing.  This review is for the most recent repair, where Romen and Stanley have found the source of some water that made its way through our brick before landing inside our crawlspace on the concrete foundation footing.
Like I said, our house is almost fifty years old.  We're basically rebuilding it as the original owner (who we bought the place from two years ago) didn't maintain it very well.  Among the many different contractors we've had address problems (electricians, plumbers, interior work, roofers, the list goes on), Coast to Coast has been the absolute best.  All of the work they've done for us (many days worth now) has been well planned, fast, and done right the first time.

Peg C. (Chicago, IL)

Romen provided a detailed estimate within 24 hours of coming out to see the building. He was professional, very knowledgeable, and his attention to customer satisfaction was outstanding. The crew was prompt, courteous, and professional. They efficiently set up outdoor scaffolding and protected all areas inside the apartment with tarps. The cleanup was excellent and the finished product is first rate. We would definitely hire Romen and his crew again and highly recommend them to anyone.

John Z. (Mundelien, IL)

Romen came out one afternoon to review the property and provide an estimate. As we walked around the house, he pointed out a few additional cracks that I hadn't noticed. He also provided us with suggestions for some work that was outside his usual scope. Our estimate came within 2 days. It was a little higher than some other ones we'd gotten, but because of Romen's eye for detail, we went with them.
They arrived promptly at the time the work was scheduled, reviewed the work order with my wife and started to work. Everything was done quickly, in a very professional manner. The new caulking where the foundation met the sidewalks and stairs matched the surrounding concrete very well. The clean up was very well done. I wouldn't have known they were there my wife hadn't confirmed it.
Nice job.

Deborah G. (Chicago, IL)

Romen came out immediately after my call to look at the exterior and interior basement walls.  He provided a detailed description of the proposed work within 2 days.  We decided to do just the exterior work so he came back with a revised proposal immediately.  s to He was very responsive to my questions preceding the start of work, both by phone and e-mail.   The crew came right on time and and completed the job within a day and a half.  They were extremely neat (using dust-catching grinders) and cleaned up completely.  Very professional. Very pleased with the job.

Janelle H. (Chicago, IL)

Romen was on time for the initial consultation which I was able to schedule shortly after contacting Coast to Coast.  He turned the quote around quickly and on the date promised.  Coast to Coast followed up with a phone call to make sure that I had received the quote.  The price was much better than that quoted by another provider and without damaging or disrupting the existing fireplace as the other provider anticipated.  The proposal included enough information and Romen spoke to my contractor, making me feel comfortable that the work proposed was appropriate.  I received a reminder email the day prior to the work commencing.  I also received an update during the work.  Overall I was extremely satisfied with the promptness and the amount of communication.
The work crew showed up as promised and the work looks to have been done well.  We have not tried out the fireplace yet, but I do not expect any problems and if there are any, I feel comfortable that Coast to Coast will come back and take care of them.  I strongly recommend Coast to Coast.

Edward H. (Barrington, IL)

Coast to Coast is very professional. They were on time and  did a very good job. They also thoroughly cleaned up after the job was complete.

I'd highly recommend this company.

Eileen P. (Kildeer, IL)

Response time to my call was within an hour, Roman came out and looked at the issue the next day.  I received a quote shortly after, and accepted it.  Work was started within a few days, and completed in 2 days, very efficient and neat.  Would highly recommend them.

Jason V. (Kildeer, IL)

Everything from the quote, the job, and the follow up has been great.   The quote came in close to another reputable company but they seemed to have a better understanding of what needed to be done and were find quoting out sections of the work individually.
The crew worked for about a week and despite the amount of brick work being done never left a big mess.  During the project they were able to help diagnose and fix a water issue I was having (that wasn't included in the original quote)   A couple areas where they had to remove some drywall (to get to the bricks) were replaced/repaired.
After all the work was done I noticed a spot that both I and them overlooked (it was a hidden spot that you could only see from one angle)  I mentioned it to them to see if they could come back and check it out.  They were back within a week and fixed it for free.
The tuck pointing and the replaced bricks look great.  You would never know work was done.  Very happy with the work done.

Michael H. (Chicago, IL)

He did a fantastic job. He was professional and efficient in his craftsmanship, and I will be using him again for my garage as well as tuck-pointing around the entire house.

Brian C. (Chicago, IL)

Our building was built in 2007 and the coping did not have any sheathing underneath it.  The result was water soaking through and down the foundation behind the outside brick, which would then drain/leak from the window and sliding door frames of the upper floors.  CTC quoted the best price of three contractors for remediation work that included:  removing the coping, adding aluminum sheathing and drain wicks, replacing the coping and sealing the creases between pieces.  Good communications, good responsiveness, I felt comfortable when dealing with them.  Would recommend them.

Peter O. (Westmont, IL)

I have used a number of contractors since owning my house.  Without a doubt Coast to Coast is the best company I have used from Angies List.  They are a superior company in their trade and take approach the job as if it were there own home.  I will try to articulate why they are such a phenomenal company below and why other companies should strive to achieve their performance.
Reason for Work:  I had a contractor over doing a very complicated job where there was a very real possibility that due to the nature of the job that tuck-pointing may be required.  Unfortunately when the contractor did the demo damage to my basement wall was so severe, it was beyond the skill of the contractor to repair. The basement wall was in such bad shape I I could see outside.  I have previously used Coast to Coast Masonry Group Inc. with excellent results and thus immediately called Coast to Coast.  I explained this was a semi-emergency since I did not want rain and small pests entering my house due to the large cracks in the basement wall.  Coast to Coast came out within one day and reassured me they could fix my issue and quickly. Stanley was the representative that came out and did a wonderful job of explaining the recommended solution.  Stanley did not recommend a quick fix like some other companies may have, but a well thought out plan based on the damage to my wall and the goal of fixing the issue once.

It gets better.  They agreed to come out on a Saturday which was huge for me so I did not need to take a precious day off from work.  They showed up at the promised time and carried out the work with extreme skill and professionalism.  I closely monitored the process and not at one point was there anything that gave me hesitation or concern.  The 2 tradesman that did the work were extremely courteous and friendly.  Clean-Up was done so well I could not tell that they were here today other than the great looking repaired wall !  Fantastic job Coast to Coast ! If my words do not prove my exuberance of their job, then see attached for pictures.

Rusty A. (Huntley, IL)

We contacted this contractor requesting information about repairing our concrete steps and possibly doing some tuckpointing and glass block work after the steps were fixed. Within five hours of sending our email, the contractor responded, saying they don't do concrete work (steps) but offering to set up an appointment for an estimate on the other work. While the company can't help me with my most important project, I appreciated the fast response so that I can focus on finding contractors who do, rather than waiting to hear back from them. We will get back in touch with this company when we're ready to investigate the tuckpointing and glass block windows.

Stephen C. (Deerfield, IL)

I need my concrete and slate tile front stoop repaired/replaced. I contacted Coast to Coast (I can't recall if it was via email or through Angies List messaging) and was contacted via phone the next day scheduling an appointment a few days later. Roman was prompt and professional. He spent an hour talking with me and brainstorming what we could do. He conveyed knowledge in his field and I trusted his opinion based upon prior experience and speaking with other companies too.
Unfortunately my job was outside the scope of his expertise which he apologized for and even discussed some other companies to call instead. What we discussed within his purview seemed accurate and was very reasonably quoted. I would not hesitate to contact him again and appreciate his absolute honesty.

Eric C. (Chicago, IL)

Very pleased with the service - quote was very reasonable for quality of the work.  They showed up right on time and did a very thorough job of sealing up some bricks and cracks in foundation.  They even came back the next day for some quick follow up waterproofing.  This is now go to company for further work.  Highly recommended

Suzanne P. (Glencoe, IL)

I contacted Coast to Coast because the Mason that was scheduled to remove my cement wall coping was a no show.  We have a leak in our roof and needed help ASAP.  Roman was patient and so kind with me.  Promised to send someone out next day to look over the scope of the work.  Finally, my guy showed up, so I cancelled Roman's services, but would never hesitate to use them in the future.  Very customer service oriented!!

Mohammed I. (Lombard, IL)

Excellent service. Very reasonable price compared to others. Coast to Coast charged me almost half the price of other companies estimated. Arrived right on the dot for repair work as promised. Very professional technician. Cleaned up mess after work was completed. I am 100% satisfied with their service.

Mindy K. (Arlington Heights, IL)

they called when they said they would, showed up on time, and took pride in their work. i would highly recommend them.

Rota B. (Hinsdale, IL)

Excellent price and service. Workers came on a Saturday to do work. Very neat and professional. I would use them again!

Brandon N. (Northbrook, IL)

I met with and interviewed 7 different masons before finally deciding to go with Coast to Coast and they did not disappoint. A crew of three did all this work over two days. They were very quick and professional on this job. Romen was my contact person and who came out to inspect the required work and provide the estimate. He was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. He was very attentive and good about providing good customer service and making sure that I was happy. I felt that the price they quoted me was very fair and the work was excellent. After they finished the work, I had to call them back to do some minor cosmetic cleanup and they were very quick to do this for me. I did my final inspection today and overall I am very happy with their work. I will definitely use Romen and his crew again should any future need for brick repair arise. I highly recommend Coast to Coast!

Dennis M. (Chicago, IL)

Great Service.  Very professional estimate.  Romen made an appointment showed up on time and gave me a job estimate the next day.  I hired them, they gave me start work date and showed up on that date and started work.  They did an excellent job of tuck pointing.  They cleaned up all messes before they left. They even found a few areas that needed caulking and caulked them for free.
I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again if needed.

Betty P. (Chicago, IL)

The guys are so accommodating and they are so responsible. They did a great job and they were fantastic.

William R. (Northfield, IL)

Romen provided both the lowest estimate and the earliest time to complete the job. He was professional and helpful during the estimate. His crew arrived as scheduled, on time and did an excellent job tuck pointing and repairing/replacing damaged bricks as needed. I would certainly use Coast to Coast and Romen again in the future.

David S. (Mt. Prospect, IL)

Our 60+ year old chimney was in need of repair.  Unfortunately, it was so far gone that it needed to be demolished to the roofline.  Coast to Coast was not the cheapest and not the most expensive contractor that we spoke to, but they gave us the most confidence that the job would be done right.  As it turns out, almost none of the original bricks could be reused and they needed to visit multiple brickyards to find matching material.  The end result matched perfectly with the lower peortion of the chimney.
It has been two years and we have no complaints or regrets.

Randall M. (Libertyville, IL)

The front of my house has a brick façade. I had water leaking in through windows in the front of my house. Before contacting Coast to Coast I had contacted a roofer who couldn't find a problem. I had a handyman help me caulk and seal around the windows and that didn't solve the problem. Coast to Coast came out and identified the flashing around the windows as a problem and also recommended waterproofing the brick. They did the work and I have not had any water leaks since then. I was very pleased with their service. They were easy to work with and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend them.

Olga B. (Oak Park, IL)

It went very well. The accurate and detailed contract has been presented, all the details were explained, and the work was done quickly & professionally.  The problem with chimney has been resolved.

Dolores K. (Wauconda, IL)

Dealing with Coast to Coast Masonry was a very positive experience from start to finish. The entire process from the estimate to the start and completion of the job went smoothly and professionally. We are very pleased with the results and feel confident that the job was done right. We would not hesitate to recommend Coast to Coast to anyone requiring the services they provide.

Mike L. (Homer Glen, IL)

Very well.  Roman was responsive to every question I had.  The crew was timely and clean and did an excellent job.  The work was well done and matched up to older brick work that we had.  I would absolutely recomend them again for a masonry job.

Linda R. (Chicago, IL)

Coast to Coast was extremely responsive and professional throughout the entire process.  The quality of the work was excellent prompting several neighbors to request contact information.

Marian C. (Libertyville, IL)

Working with Coast-to-Coast was a great experience from beginning to end. Our fireplace chimney was damaged during tree trimming and was at risk of bricks falling onto the roof below. We quickly obtained four bids from locally accredited masonry companies and chose Coast-to-Coast based on their higher overall value. They were extremely professional and rearranged work so that they could address our needs starting the next week.. The quality of workmanship was superior, and they cleaned up completely after each day's work. They even went above and beyond, replacing more brick than quoted (at no extra cost) just to give the best finished appearance. I would highly recommend Coast-to-Coast and will definitely use them for any future needs.

Nicholas V. (Chicago, IL)

They came when they said they would. They did the job in a timely manner and I was happy with the work. He cleaned up well after he was finished. I've used them before and I will use them in the future.

Mary J. (Oak Park, IL)

Coast to Coast came and removed the bricks within an hour, and then thoroughly cleaned up the work area.  They arrived a bit ahead of schedule, and they were extremely polite and efficient.

James S. (Winnetka, IL)

Excellent, Mr Zajac provided  2 options on how the work could be done, this was important  to us. He was very responsive in sending the quotes and the work was done in a very professional manner and on time. After the work was completed the job-site was thoroughly cleaned up, and we got a call from him to confirm that  the work was done satisfactorily, before he billed us. I would highly recommend Coast To Coast Masonry!

Yvonne F. (Woodstock, IL)

I was able to reach someone in the office immediately to schedule an estimate.  They were able to come out within days of my initial call.  Romen took the time to answer my many questions and gave me options and suggestions of tasks to be addressed in the future.  Romen was professional and knowledgeable.  I received the proposal via email along with a phone call informing me that the proposal had been sent.  The work was scheduled within 10 days of my returning the contract.  The crew that was sent was professional and tidy and kept me informed of their progress. I would use this company again for future masonry needs.  They were extremely professional.

Heidi S. (Deerfield, IL)

Coast to Coast came immediately after being called and gave me a complete estimate delivered on-line.  I liked the professionalism and responsiveness at which they handled the job.  The woman in the office was fantastic and responsive.  The estimate was more than fair.  They did the work on the date agreed and returned to complete the job in a timely manner due to the rain. After tuck-pointing many areas needed and replacing broken bricks and limestone edging  they then billed me.  No deposit was required!  I would use their services again if needed and highly recomment the company.

Elizabeth B. (Oak Park, IL)

We are very impressed with the high quality of work this company has done at our house. The first day of work was pouring rain, but nevertheless they did not reschedule dismantling of the walls and worked hard until evening. They removed and examined every stone very carefully, and as a result we had just a few limestones broken up. Despite the rain, there was no any mess left and the piled stones looked tidy. Next, we were working with another company on pouring foundation, and they did not mind to wait for almost two months before they could continue. Rebuilding was done again very professionally; they were highly skilled in incorporating new stones for replacement, and cleaning the old stones with the acid wash produced great result. The co-owners personally supervised the progress and it was obvious that they are kind to their employees. Romen and Stanley were always accessible and answered all our questions patiently. Surprisingly, they did not require to pay a deposit and we paid the whole sum upon project completion. At last but not least, both times they scheduled their visits promptly!

Judith G. (Grayslake, IL)

They discussed alternatives in the event the work turned out to be more complicated and provided an alternative pricing mechanism. Fortunately, the work needed was as expected. They did a nice job installing temporary interior support of first floor joists and the house main beam at my request since a significant number of bricks were being removed. They did not make a mess and cleaned up their work area well. They matched the brick. Looks like no repair was ever needed. Great job.

Candee L. (Naperville, IL)

Romen initially gave a detailed quote to our real estate broker since we were buying from outside the state, he willingly came back to discuss it in detail with us.  They arrived on the day they said they would, worked hard, keeping the area clean and being respectful of our property and the neighbors.  Work was completed ahead of schedule with no breaks and came in under budget.  Romen voluntarily invoiced only on the work that was required, showed us pictures of what they had found and what didn't need to be done.  Very honest. I would highly recommend them.  Great craftsmanship.

Valerie M. (Barrington, IL)

Experienced craftsmanship, professional, and friendly customer service.  We recommend them to everyone!

Judith H. (Glenview, IL)

This group is very professional.  From the get go they did what I wanted them to do: seal my leaking basement walls with concrete mortar and assure me that efflorescence would be eliminated or minimized.  They did this by removing all prior coatings, then applying with steel rivets a polymeric mesh to hold concrete mortar, which was applied in two separate coatings.
During the entire process I was constantly and appropriately apprised of their work and issues they were correcting.  All of my old brick walls were coated by the end of one week, and I was advised to call them about any concerns.  Within a second week there were hairline cracks in some of the mortar, so they came back, removed the defective sections, and recoated the walls with a different formulation, and smoothed the second application.  They were very professional in all aspects of their work, and cleaned up well when they finished.  Again, I was advised to call if there were any further concerns.  I had none.
I myself have experience with concrete and mortar, but I could never do the kind of professional job they did.  Once I let the mortar coating cure appropriately, which took approximately three weeks, I then applied two coats of sealer.  My basement walls look better now than at any time since I have owned the house, about twenty-eight years, during which the walls had been resealed twice.
The expertise and professionalism shown by Coast to Coast should be emulated.  Their business model is excellent, and I would not hesitate to use them again.

Damion H. (Chicago, IL)

The entire experience was pleasant. Roman and his team came out and did an initial assessment, gave a quote and then performed the job. While there quote was not the lowest, their assessment was the most honest and thorough. On the day of the work the team came out on time and was ready to go. Even though the crew did not speak English all that well, they managed to explain what they were doing.
They finished the work over the course of a week. First they did the tuck-pointing and flashing, and then they came back to paint and seal. They even worked with us to seal the entire back of the building and not just my portion. We had to pay them a little extra but Roman was willing to work with me on the price. So far with heavy rains there has not been any leaks. So far so good. Coast to Coast gave us a 1 year labor guarantee on the labor.
Though we will have to see how the work holds up, working with Roman and team was good and the work appears to be solid. I would definitely use them again.

Leslie R. (Highland Park, IL)

Very responsive. I called to get a quote, and Roman was here the next day. I had an estimate the following day and set up a date for work to be done. A two-man crew arrived within the time window and did the tuckpointing and re-bricking in a couple of hours. They were able to do a very good job matching brick and mortar on our 90+ year-old house. Actually, the job was so good that even my husband was impressed. They then returned the next day to wash down the bricks, removing any dried-on mortar.
I'd call them again for any of our brickwork.

Renee C. (Mundelien, IL)

Top notch, fast, professional & all-around friendly service!  Called and had an appointment the next day.  The owner, Romen, fully explained everything, answered all our questions, took pictures and showed us exactly what needed to be done, what he recommended and why.  He video taped the inside so we could see if liners were needed.  The utility liner was in bad shape and needed to be replaced but the fireplace liner was still pretty good and he did not try to over sell us by saying we needed a new one of those too.  Said that if the fireplace liner ever needed to be replaced in the future it could be done at that time.  He was very reasonably priced.  I got another quote for the exact same work from another "top" known company in the area, but they quoted me double what Coast to Coast quoted me!
Romen and his crew did exactly what he said they would quickly and efficiently.  He returned calls immediately and did a great job in working around our schedule.  They left the place cleaned up, neat and tidy.  Another impressive thing he did was that this is a 90 yo house & chimney and he did a fantastic job of finding and matching up the bricks to the old ones so you can't even tell they are different.  I couldn't be happier with the result and the service from Coast to Coast!  I would not hesitate to call them again and will continue to recommend them to everyone!

The work preformed was top notch. Started work on time. They where suppose to replace the chimney above roof and install new stainless steel liner. After review it was decided the new liner was not needed at this time, they replaced three clay tiles inside chimney.    A very good  explanation was given so you understood what the situation was .This is a very old house so you never know what you will find! There was a hole in chimney hidden under some insulation they found and repaired in attic. Clean up was excellent you can't tell someone was even there.  I would recommend them to anyone in need of there services. The best part was, communication was excellent in explaining the problem and options . After talking with them you went away understanding and confident in the decision made between you and them. The liner was removed from the initial quote. Final bill was about half of what we expected. it was a great experience in dealing with them believe me. we now know a little bit more about this old house.

Timothy G. (Chicago, IL)

They were easy to schedule and showed up on time, every time. They went above and beyond my expectations. These guys are amazing and I highly recommend them.

Vista De Lago Condo Association (Chicago, IL)

I am the treasurer of a 16 unit walk up building (3 floors) in Rogers Park. Our building needed some serious tuckpointing work specially in the back.
We contacted numerous tuckpointing companies and had very mixed responses. Some came in very high in price, some wanted to give me a cut back, some gave incomplete estimate and never came back, some never came in the first place. This was a very taxing experience. Then we found Coast to Coast. They sent their representative, Stanley.
Stanley was very professional and thorough. He went over different scenarios of what needed to be done as what was more of a cosmetic and not as urgent. He took pictures and then presented us with a very thorough estimate. His price was actually the most reasonable we received.
When we agreed on the price, they scheduled us to start the work soon after. They showed up on the day they were scheduled. Here are my observations on their work:
1. They were very punctual and worked all day.
2. They sent anywhere between 4-6 workers which made the overall job go faster than we all anticipated.
3. They made sure they left everything clean.
4. They went above and beyond what was promised. I can honestly thing our building looks brand new now and everyone I spoke with gave great compliments and feedback.
We, in our building, are trying to have a preferred list of contractors for all purposes. Coast to Coast is definitely our top choice when it comes to Tuckpointing. I highly recommend them.

Silvi P. (Wilmette, IL)

Best contractor I have ever hired! It was no inconvenience to wait a few days for the owner, Roman, to come out to give me an estimate and also I had to schedule the work out a few weeks. It was definitely worth the wait. They were very professional and completed the work exactly as promised in the original estimate. They were finished, cleaned up and gone before I got home from work that day and sent me a bill via email a couple days later. Thank you coast to coast!!

William H. (Arlington Heights, IL)

This contractor kept me fully informed as to the scheduling of the work. The work crew arrived on time and began work immediately. Most of the work was completed the first day with a follow up day needed to remove the molding structure around the chimney crown. The crew cleaned up the work site as promised before they left. After the crew left I noticed that the chimney crown appeared to have black spots on it and the corners of the crown looked ragged and chipped in appearance. I mentioned this to Romen, the Owner, and he called one of the workman back to touch up the concrete crown so that the surface looked smooth and finished properly. I was very pleased with Romen's responsiveness and his ability to listen to my concerns throughout the execution of this masonry work. Romen also accommodated me in providing a detailed work estimate for my insurance company.
I highly recommend this company for your masonry needs. They are true professionals and they know what they are doing. The quality of their work is top-notch and if you are unhappy for any reason, they will make it right. I would definitely use them again in the future. In fact, I plan to hire them again to finish tuck pointing the rest of my house.

Zenith C. (Northbrook, IL)

Chimney was deteriorating from age and severe winter.  had partial rebuild several years ago, but bottom bricks now really bad.  so bad, we had water seeping into the basement and furnace area. I got 3 other quotes with different options.  chose Coast to Coast from angie?s list great reviews and I also felt i could relate and trust the owner, Romen.  instead of cheaper patch job, we chose to do complete change.Due to our travel schedules, we set a date Oct. 1 to start, although i had to be postponed to 10/6 due to unexpected delay in another job and weather.  However, once they started, it went very smoothly.  They were very prompt, professional and clean.  Workers were very polite and well mannered.  The man in charge, Marek, was very nice and responsive.  I keep in contact with owner, Romen, frequently as well. They had to do a lot of things, and I?m very impressed with their work and how the took care of the property. They cleaned up very well after themselves very well at the end of the project.  Compared to the previous company I?ve used, they were far superior.

Kathy G. (Evanston, IL)

Roman and his team were professional from start to finish. Roman met me at the appointed time to bid the job. He performed the work in the following weeks, they were thorough in their work, and made the garage look ten times better, really rebuilding sections of it. Apparently they had a power outage while I was gone and they still completed the work. The garage door had to be lowered manually so when I tried to open it, it didn't work just right. I called and they were there immediately to adjust the door so it would open properly again. They would have done it before they left, but needed power back on to do so. I can't say enough. I am very grateful for their service and partnership. This was one of the easiest construction jobs I've ever managed. Trust them implicitly.

Han W. (Skokie, IL)

They arrived earlier than the scheduled time and started work on my glass block windows and the chimney. The crew were courteous, worked quietly and after they were done, they cleaned the premises. I was so impressed with the work especially so that they left the premises immaculate. They did an excellent tuck-pointing job!

Leslie D. (Buffalo Grove, IL)

We got a few estimates and went with Coast to Coast due to competitive pricing, Roman's thorough knowledge, and because we just really liked them. They did a great job. The crew arrived promptly and started work right away. They covered our furniture and kept things very clean in the house even with masonry coming down the chimney in piles. The work was completed efficiently and as promised. The new chimney looks terrific and the new liner is great. They also repaired brick work further down and installed waterproofing. No more dripping when it rains! They also replaced a random missing brick in the front of the house at no additional charge. I wholeheartedly recommend Coast to Coast.

Kevin N. (Evanston, IL)

Went great.  Quote provided immediately with full explanation.  Weather was a problem for the original start date and Roman contacted me to discuss and reschedule. I contacted office personnel with a question and phone answered by an individual and my question was answered immediately. Job completed and I am very satisfied.  This company was very professional in every way.

Richard T. (Glenview, IL)

My wife lined up the contractor based on details I gave her about what needed to be done.  I was very busy in a new job and couldn't take the time to call around for contractors.  Roman was very polite, professional and helpful with her! The crew arrived on time on the appointed day and was very polite and professional.  They used heavy-duty hand-held circular saws and hand tools to surgically remove both of the limestone sills below the window (not just the one that was tilted inward), and remove any mortar or caulk still stuck to them.  They also cleaned up the brick around the opening so that both the brick and sills looked brand new.  They installed a new heavy-duty moisture barrier inside the opening, put the original sills back in the opening, mortared them in place, and caulked all around the window.  They did a good job of matching the original mortar and caulking colors.  They looked like they had done jobs like this thousands of times!  They cleaned up the work site and left everything just as they found it.  About the only thing they didn't do was wash the window to remove the dust on it created by their power saws. The price was exactly as quoted.  I would definitely use them again if I have other masonry work. FYI, we got a quote from another contractor who does masonry and window installation.  He said that if he removed and replaced the sill, it would "never be right" (i.e. would continue to leak).  He proposed that we replace the entire 8' wide x 12' high arched window at a cost of almost $5,000!  Roman's crew got it right - the water runs off and no longer pools on the sill - at a fraction of what the other contractor quoted. We contracted someone else to deal with the interior damage as Coast to Coast doesn't do interior work.

Gail M. (Chicago, IL)

Perfectly. They were very professional, took care of everything that was in the contract, cleaned up when finished and made sure that were were satisfied before billing.  They also handled the permitting, which included erecting scaffolding and a canopy over the sidewalk for the work on the facade. The weather didn't co-operate so the work took a bit longer than expected but that was not a concern for us. I would definitely hire them again for any future masonry work.

Leroy F. (Wadsworth, IL)

On time. Well prepared. Very professional. Job done perfectly, down to the cleanup. Much better result that I expected. Coast to Coast Masonry charges appropriately for outstanding craftsmanship.

David T. (Evanston, IL)

Mr. Romen Zajac, the owner of Coast to Coast Masonry Group was very punctual and professional in providing his initial evaluation and cost estimates.  He provided a series of options for repair of our basement walls, from the minimum necessary to improve the appearance of the deteriorated wall to a more in-depth repair that would be structural as well as cosmetic.  He did not try to push any of the options on us but was very flexible, allowing us to balance the choice of repair strategies against their cost, without any pressure.  While it is not easy to compare the estimates given by the vendor with those given by other companies, since each bidding vendor proposed somewhat different work, Mr. Zajac's estimate seemed comparable to others we received.  It was certainly a more complete and flexible estimate than others provided.  At least one other bidder  was very aggressive and tried to badger us into choosing a cheaper repair that was purely cosmetic. The Coast to Coast work team arrived punctually on the appointed day and did a good job of repairing the basement wall and tuck pointing the outer walls of the house.  They were very professional and polite.  After the job was completed, Mr. Zajac personally inspected the work.  He felt that the tuck pointing was incomplete in some areas and had his team return to complete the project to his (and our) satisfaction.  He also felt that clean up was inadequate, so his team returned an additional day to more thoroughly clean the area around our house, including a careful cleaning and washing of our large front porch.  Moreover, Mr. Zajac was extremely responsive to our requests.  Customer satisfaction was clearly very important to him.  Altogether, we were very satisfied with the work and found dealing with Coast to Coast Masonry Group very pleasant.

Joe K. (Carol Stream, IL)

The crew showed up when promised. They looked and acted professional. They got right to work and did a great job. They finished ahead of the promised schedule. After the cleanup was done you would have not known they were here. The office followed up to be sure everything was done right.

David K. (Chicago, IL)

The quality of the work and the recommendations that come with them, the timeliness of their work and price, of course is what made me choose them and continue with them. Their honesty is really a factor as well. We are using them on a continual basis.

Mary A. (Winnetka, IL)

Roman came by with an estimate and quickly sent out a very detailed proposal. The workers arrived exactly on time , and were extremely professional. I would definitely use this company again. Very satisfied with their work!

Andrew G. (Wheaton, IL)

Roman came out and met with me to discuss the job.  I appreciated that he was willing to meet me. Several other companies were content to drive by and look at the job.  I really wanted to meet whoever would be doing the work.  Roman's office then provided me with a very detailed, written job description and quote. We set a date. I later needed to push the job back a week and they were very nice about accommodating the change. They emailed me the day before with a reminder and told me what time to expect them.  They showed up on time. The job consisted of taking the soldier bricks from above the windows, taking out the old, rusted lintels, putting down a waterproof shield, putting in new lintels and weep holes, and then closing back up, re-using the existing bricks.  They had a 5 person crew come out and completed the job in about 4 hours.  Someone came back out the next day to wash the bricks and the shutters. The crew was friendly and professional.

Thomas E. (Libertyville, IL)

We had gotten 4 different estimates from companies.  All pretty comparable price wise.  However the professionalism, knowledge, and trust we felt with Romen from our initial estimate surpassed the others.  It continued throughout the project.  The crew was always on time, hard working, and professional.  We are so pleased with our new fireplace and would definitely recommend them.

Edward S. (Bartlett, IL)

Coast to Coast did a great job from start to finish.  They took the time to give us a detailed explanation of our options before we signed the contract.  Their pricing was comparable to, or lower than, the other quotes that we received.  They arrived exactly on time, and completed the rebuild and liner installation in one day.  They returned the next day to remove the forms from the new chimney cap and thoroughly cleaned all of the bricks.  They did a great job of protecting the areas near the chimney and they cleaned the roof and gutters at the end of both days.  The chimney looks great; their workers were very professional and expert in their craft.  We highly recommend them to anyone who needs masonry repairs to their home.

Willy J. (Chicago, IL)

Worked with Roman to coordinate all the efforts and he was very quick to respond, quick to provide estimate and schedule an appointment.  Got estimates from a few others and their prices and considerable more and tried to upsell on other items not requested and hard to get a hold of. Coast to coast was prompt, showed up as scheduled, did a great job and left the site a good as it looked prior to their visit.  Had a couple of areas that I wasn't sure it was done properly and Roman, clearly explained why that was the case and could come back out and redo it if I'm not completely satisfied.  Asked him if someone to take a look and redo a few spots and the turnaround time was really quick.  They came out and spent an additional 5 hours making sure everything was fully sealed without question and to complete satisfaction. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

David I. (Chicago, IL)

These guys are absolutely AWESOME.  I called for initial estimate, and within just 11 days - yes, only 11 days - my work was already completed!  Blown away by the quality, the punctuality - and especially the efforts the crew went through for clean-up.  My biggest worry was my front yard would be a mess based on my previous experience having masonry work done with a different provider.  My front yard looks like they were never here!  They are my new go to company for masonry work - will not even call anyone else for a second opinion.

Bonnie K. (Roselle, IL)

Although the problem could not be fixed by a mason, he did provide us with his diagnosis and what our next steps should be. He was on time and even though he would not be getting any business from us that day he tried to give an opinion of the source of the problem, which was greatly appreciated.

Claudia & David D. (Glen Ellyn, IL)

Coast to Coast (Mr. Ziaja) did a great job. He came out to give us an estimate in spite of a heavy rainfall. Before hiring Coast to Coast my husband and Mr. Ziaja communicated back and forth as questions came up. After he was hired Mr. Ziaja said he would do the work in two weeks (August 1, 2015). He said that if we needed him to do the work on a weekday it would be six weeks. My husband and I were happy that he could do the work so quickly. A few days before the work was to be completed, Mr. Ziaja brought out a number of brick samples to make sure that the brick he ordered matched the existing chimney. On August 1, Mr. Ziaja and his crew showed up just before 7. They set up a scaffolding adjacent to the chimney. I was so impressed that they did not destroy the plants in the garden immediately under the scaffolding! I REALLY APPRECIATED THAT! The worked efficiently and quietly. The crew removed all of the broken bricks and chimney cap. Then they rebuilt the top of the chimney, installed a new chimney cap and tuckpointed the entire chimney. By 3pm Coast to Coast had wrapped up. At that point Mr. Ziaja said that he would be back in the am to clean off the chimney. (A step he told us about before he was hired) He asked if he could come at 7am. My husband said yes. Mr. Ziaja asked my husband and I if were were satisfied. He said he wanted us to be satisfied. We told Mr. Ziaja that yes were were very satisfied! The next day Mr. Ziaja was prompt. He cleaned off the chimney. When he was done the entire chimney looked GREAT! The old and new brick looked seamless. Mr. Ziaja loaded up all the cracked bricks and buckets of debris as my husband wrote a check. When Mr. Ziaja left every sign that there had been work was gone. The one tiny comment I would make to Mr. Ziaja to help future customers......please advise customers that mortar and other debris will make a mess on the inside of the house. In complete fairness to Mr. Ziaja the fireplace in my living room is currently blocked with furniture from another room.  PLUS I didn't even think about the possibility of dirt and debris coming down the chimney. I do NOT hold this against Coast to Coast. I just didn't even think about it.  Thanks Coast to Coast!!!

Tom K. (Hawthorn Woods, IL)

Romen was a pleasure to work with. He was timely, personable, and offered several good options to pick from before job began. The whole team was professional and completed job in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend Coast to Coast.

Leslie S. (Chicago, IL)

Roman came out to give me the estimate.  He looked at each window. He was very good about letting me know which needed to be replaced now and which were still in good condition.   I was not pressured in any way to replace more lintels than I wanted to get done.   Then he went on the roof to look at the chimney and he took pictures to show me the work that needed done.  I was emailed a very detailed estimate for the work to be done and I called them to set up a date to get the work done.  It took two days to complete the work.  They were very punctual both days.  The first day they replaced the lintels and did the tuck pointing on the other windows.  They had a team of workers that knew what they needed to do and got right to work.  They poured the chimney cap on the first day.  The second day they acid washed the tuck pointing and installed the chimney liner.  The company emailed me the bill which was the exact cost as the estimate.

Brian F. (Lakewood, IL)

It was a pleasure to work with Romen.  He came out to the house for the estimate and was extremely thorough.  He investigated each area of concern and spent considerable time understanding what the issue was and coming up with a plan of attack.  I was very interested in the details, and he spent time diagramming the wall structure for me, explaining how a properly constructed wall should work and what the problem was and how they would fix it. The estimate was very thorough, and unlike other estimates that limited the tuckpointing to certain exterior walls or portions of walls, Romen's team would examine all walls of the house and tuckpoint anything that needed to be done. It was reassuring to know that when completed, there should be no further issues. HIs team showed up on time and worked extremely hard.  All the tuckpointed joints blended in with the existing masonry and for each window and door they painstakingly removed all the previous dried caulk, cleaned out the joints and tooled in a smooth coat of caulk on each window/door.  Any areas I was concerned about, were quickly addressed.  The crew cleaned up after themselves and actually did a better job of putting away and rolling up the outside hose than I usually do. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them for any masonry work.  It is enjoyable to work with someone who cares about their craft, wants to see the job done right and has a team that works hard and takes pride in their work.

Sara L. (Chicago, IL)

Coast to Coast was great from the start. Very professional and prompt. Their cost of service was in the middle of the 4 estimates we received. But we chose them because they were the only company who said they could match the brick color so you could not tell the new bricks had not always been there. The work looks great! They even cleaned up so well you could not tell they had been there. I would definitely recommend them in the future!

Salman A. (Batavia, IL)

I usually don't write reviews but will do this one since they did an excellent job. Romen came out to the house for the estimate and was very thorough in finding what needs to be done and how, he spend considerable time and take pictures and we received a detailed estimate within few days. Got estimates from others as well all pretty comparable price wise but we felt the trust with Coast to Coast which surpassed the other estimates. The crew did a great job was always on time, hardworking and professional. Noticed few areas that need more finishing the team came 3 more times turnaround time was really quick and without any questions did everything I asked till I was totally satisfied, that?s called service. I am completely satisfied with the result and service that was provided by Coast to Coast.

Michael G. (Chicago, IL)

I was very impressed. The workers showed up on time. They were polite, professional, and knowledgeable. They asked several questions on what needed to be done and they did it.  In one day the job was done. The walls look great and I am very pleased. They left my loft as clean as it was when they arrived. The correspondence was excellent with the office staff. The price was excellent, too. An overall wonderful experience.

Daniel C. (Mundelien, IL)

It was one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had with a contractor. He personally come to my home and the next day the crew came out at 7 am and within 2 hours they had done a considerable amount of work. Within 48 hours of my first call to them the whole project was completed and it went super.

Michael B. (Highland Park, IL)

They arrived on time, provided accurate estimate, installed windows professionally, and came when promised. Easy to deal with.

Jo Preston A. (Ingleside, IL)

Coast to Coast removed an old wooden surround to my fireplace and installed stone from the hearth to the ceiling. Also they installed a mantle that I purchased. They had to match the stone that was on the hearth, and remove some of the old stone from the wall that surrounded the fireplace, in order to install the new stone. I am very pleased with the work performed. They were professional and worked hard to complete the job in one day. The stone match, while not perfect, it is very close, and looks better than the original stone. Also, they admitted that they were not familiar with the type of mantle I purchased, and very carefully planned different options on how to proceed, before tackling that portion of the job, Furthermore, the work area was cleaned well before they left. I plan to use them again for my masonry needs, and strongly recommend them.

Joanna P. (Chicago,IL)

It was a pleasure working with Coast to Coast Masonry group again. We were impressed with their professionalism and quality before and wanted to reach out to them. During a storm a tree fell on our home and damaged our chimney. We called Coast to Coast and they were helpful in setting up a time to come check out the damage. After proper inspection they forwarded me a proposal and set up a time to do the job. The group was punctual and responsive to all our questions. The previous work they performed on our home was high in quality, and so we knew that our chimney would resemble their outstanding craftsmanship. My wife and I are very pleased with our newly rebuilt chimney. It matches great with the rest of the brick on our home, it really looks as though the tree had never fallen. Thank you Coast to Coast yet again!

Florence L. (Long Grove, IL)

I needed brick and concrete repair done and immediately called Coast to Coast. They were very responsive and came to our home the next day. Romen explained why the bricks became loose and caused the concrete to crack. I was concerned about how these issues might affect the home in the future. He assured me that after having made the proper repairs, we would no longer have these problems. They came back the following day to do the repair, and were very courteous and professional. I am so impressed by their workmanship and how they run their business. I highly recommend Coast to Coast for any masonry work. Thank you Coast to Coast!!

Michael S. (Willowbrook, IL)

Extremely well and looks beautiful. Definitely use these guys!

Mark B. (Hawthorn Woods, IL)

Coast to Coast Masonry Group installed the chimney cap at our house. Romen was very professional and helpful. He explained everything with a great detail. He provided quick, excellent and professional service. He was very quick with the quote for additional work, that has to be done. I am very pleased with the work performed and the prices.  I highly recommend Coast to Coast for any chimney work! Thank you Coast to Coast!

Taylor D. (Kildeer, IL)

Coast to Coast did a great job on my home. I needed new liners and some tuckpointing. They went above and beyond to get it fixed. I received bids from other companies and this group did a quality job for a very reasonable price. They left the property spotless, they were honest about what needed to be done, and they were very friendly. I strongly recommend them to anyone in need of home repairs and restoration. I would use them again in the future!

Jeanine G. (Palatine, IL)

Because there is also old brick and mortar on the other side of the front of the house, this was a tricky job. But the crew are true artists and the work is of such high quality that nobody would notice I had anything done! Romen even stopped by after the job was completed to touch up some painted trim and answer any questions I had! I have received many compliments from neighbors, many of whom have the same structural issue. I would highly recommend them and they can use me as a reference anytime

Eric H. (Northbrook, IL)

It was a pleasure to work with Roman and his team. They were punctual, approachable and the work really speaks for itself. I plan on hiring Roman again for some tuck pointing needs in the near future.

Paul H. (Arlington Heights, IL)

It went extremely well. The crew arrived on time and completed the work in less than an hour. They did a great job..

Timothy C. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Romen gave a very thorough estimate and explanation of the job. Workers arrived on time and worked hard each day of this multi-day project. This was a messy job, but the workers cleaned up well at the end of each day. Prior to completion of this work, there was smoke transfer between two flues and/or downdraft at the top of the chimney, and we hope that this work will resolve the problem. Small test fire suggests everything working well, but true test will be when we burn a larger fire in the fall/winter. I was pleased that Romen asked me to follow up with him if the issue persists. Price was very good for the services provided.

Patricia D. (Chicago, IL)

My experience with Coast to Coast Masonry Group was excellent. I worked with Stanley who listened to my requests and then did an inspection of our home and explained to me what/where the problems were. His contract proposal was very detailed as compared to other companies. The team started on time, were very professional and informed me when they were done for the day. They were organized and very neat in cleaning up. They were great! The finished job is very well done and looks outstanding. Stanley informed me that I could call and let him know if if found anything that I felt needed attention or had questions. I did and called the company twice. Stanley came out promptly and took care of the items - nothing major just minor. I am very satisfied and am very glad I chose Coast to Coast. I would recommend the company without hesitation. The joints and lintels are very professionally done.

Pam F. (Prospect Heights, IL)

Extreme well. We were having a roof put on and when they removed the flashing from one of the chimneys there was damage that had happened over the years. I call Coast to Coast since they had done a chimney rebuild for us in the past and explained what had happened and she made arrangement to have Stanley come out to take a look since it need to be fixed in order to have the roofers continue. Stanley said he would call Roman to see if there was someone available to make the repair. Roman called me back in about two hours and said that he was sending two men to get the repair done. I would not hesitate to call Coast to Coast if in the future we need masonry work done. They do go work.

Llyod T. (Inverness, IL)

They did an excellent job on the project! The workers worked in the rain and snow.

Timothy G. (Chicago, IL)

These guys are great. I have used them for several repair projects. I honestly don’t have a single negative thing to say about them. They provide thorough job estimates, were always on time and performed top quality work. I would highly recommend them for any Masonry project.

Melody E. (Carol Stream, IL)

The estimator arrived and I immediately knew this was going to be a good fit. He was very thorough about what needed to be done and explained to me everything. The workers arrived on time and did a great job. They were able to match the bricks very well and you could not tell work had been performed unless you knew what needed to be done originally. I was very impressed with this company and would not hesitate to contact them for any type of work they perform.

Mandy M. (Crystal Lake, IL)

I cannot possibly say enough good things about the estimator, Romen, his crew leader, Mark, and the rest of the crew. They were prompt every single day, polite, careful, and such hard workers. They went above and beyond on every detail to be sure the job was done right. I have honestly never worked with such professionals in the trades before. We had several estimates, and the other companies weren't as knowledgable, or wanted to 'cut corners' to give us a lower price and just get the job. Romen's estimate showed us how thorough he is, and how extremely knowledgeable. If you want the job done RIGHT, call Coast to Coast. We are satisfied customers in every regard and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Jeffery S. (Barrington, IL)

C2C was great. Had many quotes to repair a chimney that was in disrepair. Some wanted a complete rebuild, others suggested tuck pointing and installing a sleeve . Romen had a permanent and cost effective solution. He removed the cap and top 20 rows of brick (no sleeve required). The rebuild matched perfectly. Romen was great at communicating and came back to correct a few minor issues.

Debbie M. (Northbrook, IL)

It is unusual for me to write a review, but in the case of Coast to Coast it had to be done. Romen and his colleagues are fabulous. On time, polite, outstanding workmanship and clean!!! They matched my existing mortar color and you would never know it was not the original. I have had a lot of work done on this old house of mine and must say I have never been more satisfied . It was a pleasure to work with them and see what good work looks like !!!!

This is one great company that everyone ought to know! In the late Oct, I noticed that the front brick wall of my house has some cracks near the foundation and I needed some help. I contacted Coast to Coast on 10/31, Monday. Ramen returned my call in the early afternoon and set up the appointment for 11/2, Wed. Ramen showed up on time and was very honest about the necessary repair and cosmetic work for the brick wall and chimney. I was also very impressed when I received the contract on 11/4, Friday morning- everything listed out in sequential steps/details. Furthermore, Ramen was able to have a crew come in the next day, 11/5, Saturday to preform and complete the work before I leave for oversea trip the following week. I am very pleased with the work they performed as well, everything done perfectly- especially where they need to cut the brick wall open to remove the rotten wood support beam for flower pots, they did flawless job to refill the bricks/wall. You could not tell any fill in work has been done! I can’t say enough good things about Coast to Coast- the knowledge, honesty, quality of their work, responsiveness, and punctuality etc. I am so grateful to know this company!

They did a real good job! It was around $20,000, a good amount, but I would recommend them to anybody! They did quality work, cleaned up well. They did a quality, quality job, quick, I forget how many days it took, but they always cleaned up well after the day was done. I read that on their reviews & I had never used them before, but I was impressed! It turned out very nice!

Jeannine V. (Waukegan, IL)

Did work quickly and company was very responsive.

I cannot say enough good things about this company. First of all, they did everything correctly and were very patient with us, and they were also the lowest price we found from the vendors on Angie's List that submitted estimates. We had a quote done in October, and they were up front in saying they wouldn't do the work in November because of cold and unpredictable weather, which would dramatically affect the quality of the job. Not all companies I got quotes from were upfront about that and wanted to do the work in November without mention of the weather. Then, for budgeting purposes, we weren't able to do the work until the following fall, and they honored the original quote (which was good for one year). The work was impeccable. I have never seen a crew work so hard in my life. They were on time, very respectful, and they worked like crazy to make everything perfect. And when I say perfect, I mean no one can tell that we had tons of step cracking from foundation issues, rusted lintels, and pitched-in sills. All of these things had caused so much cracking in the brick, and these guys have made it all look like it never happened. And they fixed all of the problems (the foundation work we had done prior to their work, so that was a different company) that caused the cracking. It's been a few months, and everything still looks great. And, bonus, they cleaned the house off AND all of my windows - they were cleaner after the work than before they started. Bravo to Coast to Coast. I have never given this great of a review before and I'm a tough customer, but this is the best company I have used from Angie's List. Highly, highly recommend.

Kenneth B. (Deerfield, IL)

The did a wonderful job. The patio door repair replaced an earlier repair made by another company which had been very unsightly (the patch did not match the original). I would highly recommend them.

Mae W. (Maywood, IL)

Excellent workmanship. House is an old brick bungalow. Company worked hard to find bricks to match existing bricks. The finish product is beautiful.

Robert L. (Winthrop Harbor, IL)

Work was amazing, folks at C&C were fantastic and the house is looking better then ever

Michael B. (Barrington, IL)

great phone call, great advice

Paul L. (Lincolnshire, IL)

Perfect: Romen's team is the best! Reasonable price, punctual, and very

Kirk S. (Lake Forest, IL)

The work began on time went fast and the crew that worked on my chimneys were fantastic. They fixed a few cracked bricks elsewhere around the house gratis. The brick was an excellent match and the quality looks perfect. They were very good about working around some rainy weather and not pouring caps when the rain was imminent. I really didn't want to do the second chimney until the Summer but when Romen offered a slight discount since the crew was already here I couldn't refuse.

Tom S. (Northbrook, IL)

Romen and his group did a terrific job. Everything as promised!

Brian R. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Job was done quickly and workmanship was outstanding. Roman and crew chief were great and answered all questions. Roman made some good suggestion. Quote was thorough and very detailed. No issues. They even hosed off the dust from the house and windows. House looks great and the new work blends in very nicely.

Thomas K. (Oak Park, IL)

very timely and very professionally.

Erik H. (Arlington Heights, IL)

Romen did a thorough evaluation before providing his proposal, which was competitive. His crew showed up on time and were careful, conscientious, thorough and easy to work with. The job turned out well. Would definitely recommend.

Ross M. (Waukegan, IL)

Very professional, prompt, efficient. Estimates for two options were given, prices were very competitive. Work was done on schedule and I was pleased with the quality. As a retired professional consultant to the construction industry with expertise in masonry construction, I was very positively impressed—a rare experience in my professional life. I recommend them.

I meant to do this a year ago but here goes... This a Masonry group that can be relied upon to do the best job you could ask for. There are no corners cut and what is proposed is exactly what you get and then some. Their work is percise and they take the time to make the right decision on grout color and tooling.
I live in a 1928 Classic Art Deco "Historic" building in Oak Park. All work must meet the standards of such a beautiful specimen. These are the people that can do it and when they leave you woill never know they were there. The clean up is as professional as their work.
I have used them for three separate sections of the building  over afour year time span
and keep getting the same results.

I'd highly recomend this company.

Nancy H. (Barrington, IL)

Outstanding customer service. Called for an appointment. They showed up as promised. Scheduled the work. They were there on time and performed a repair to my concrete chimney cap in a timely and professional manner.
Would definitely recommend them!

Amy W. (Chicago, IL)

I LOVE THESE GUYS! We just had brick columns installed on our gate at our lincoln park home.  Every step was seamless. The estimate and booking the appointment were all done through email and payment was due upon completion of the job. I was thinking, ' these guys must be really good because they will put in the work, with no money down.' Let me just say,THEY ARE!

They came on time the day of install, they were neat and efficient. We also had them install a mailbox in one post and conduit for a video intercom in the other post. When they finished, the area and the posts were cleaned. The experience was like being on HGTV. The columns are gorgeous. The color of brick was more red than orange, but they quickly corrected it by dying the bricks to match my house. Another perk is that they seamlessly attached my iron fence to the bricks. They cut very little of the fence and saved my bushes. I thought I would have to replace the whole fence, not so. This is a class act company.

I have met very few contractors that are so professional. I really enjoyed communicating with Roman and his kindness, diligence and promptness to make the job perfect. I normally hate talking to anyone, but I would answer his calls.  I sent payment as soon as they invoiced me. I WAS HAPPY TO WRITE THE CHECK.

I have so much masonry work for their future. They WILL be added to my phone book. Thanks again Coast to Coast!

Tom H. (Chicago, IL)

Above and Beyond... The crew did an outstanding job.  They started on time and finished the job early.  They also performed some additional work outside the scope of work.  The finished product is perfect.  The crew was very professional and kept me posted on their progress each day.  When the job was complete, they cleaned up and removed all debris. Great job and  thank you Coast to Coast. Highly recommend. - Tom H.

We just purchased a house in Skokie and are going through the process of making sure all of the maintenance is up to date -- including a number of repairs to the brick and stucco exterior.  We initially called a local masonry company, who came out twice for a walkaround -- never took any notes, and then didn't return my calls.

So I called Coast to Coast.  Stan came out this morning and walked around the exterior with me.  He was upfront about what needed repair and what didn't, he took his time in taking notes and photos, and he offered a general timeline on estimating and repairs.

If the rest of the experience working with these guys is as professional and consultative as the estimating process, I'll be extremely pleased.  My only regret is that I didn't call them first.

Mandy M. (Crystal Lake, IL)

I cannot begin to speak highly enough about Coast to Coast. From the beginning, we knew Romen's estimate was the most thorough and professional.  He recommended removing our limestone copings, adding metal flashing and a waterproofing membrane below.  We knew this was the necessary course of action to protect the brick on the rest of our home, and surprisingly, no other contractor even recommended it. They just weren't knowledgable enough to know how to handle a big job like ours. The crew was always prompt, would work long hours, even in the cold, and clean up appropriately after each work day. They were all conscientious, such hard workers, and polite. I know the job was done RIGHT. IF you have a big job, and are making a large investment in your home, like we did, call Coast to Coast. For the amount of time, material, and man-hours that went into this project, the price was also very fair. Cannot say enough about this company.

A B. (Deerfield, IL)

Konstantinos K. (Chicago, IL)

This is the third time I've used Coast to Coast Masonry Group and once again, Romen and his crew exceeded my expectations.  I have a 1946 Georgian brick home that has a very difficult-to-match yellow/tan brick.  I asked Romen to replace the space an old wall air conditioner occupied (that hung outside of my house) with bricks.  As before, their estimate was fair, they showed up on time and they completed the job in a seamless fashion.  And as before, the outcome of their work was excellent.  I will never look elsewhere for a mason in the Chicagoland Area...I recommend Coast to Coast Masonry Group without reservation!

Fran D. (Hoffman Estates, IL)

Thanks again for the fantastic work your employees did on restoring our fireplace, both inside and exterior. This is the third time we have used Coast to Coast, and, are tremendously satisfied with the result. Your employees are completely trained in their abilities, and once again did a great job on our fireplace repairs. Afterword, they cleaned up everything, as if no one ever was there. We highly recommend Coast to Coast to anyone who is in need of this service. Thank you again, Romen and Dorothy.

I rang this firm when I needed some work done fast - we had booked a new roof and they wouldn't come out until the chimney had been sorted. Romen was courteous, timely and the quote was great. The work was completed within a week of me signing a contract and I could not be more pleased - the chimney looks outstanding and with my new roof my house looks like a new build! Communication from start to finish was outstanding - wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Dennis F. (Frankfort, IL)

Roman inspired our confidence from the beginning. His crew showed up as scheduled, set up their scaffolding and were at work within minutes. The job took the amount of time that was estimated and the results were better than we had hoped for! Highly recommended.

David I. (Chicago, IL)

These guys are absolutely AWESOME. I called for initial estimate, and within just 11 days - yes, only 11 days - my work was already completed! Blown away by the quality, the punctuality - and especially the efforts the crew went through for clean-up. They are my new go to company for masonry work - will not even call anyone else for a second opinion.

Garry B. (Lake Zurich, IL)

So happy I called them. They sent a team to my home to fix the problem. They were efficient, friendly, and extremely neat. Once they left, he wouldn't even know they had been there. Everyone from the office manager to you guys on the job were extremely helpful. Highly recommended to everyone

Debbie M. (Northbrook, IL)

I have done a lot of tuckpointing and repairs on my old limestone home, but have never had any company as wonderful as Coast to Coast. They were on time, matched the mortar perfectly, cleaned up, were professional and polite!!! They were even kind enough to do some work outside of their estimate. I will never use anyone else. Thank you Romen for a great job.

It went great!! They did a fantastic job. The crew size ranged from 2 to 3 workers during the course of the day. They were no non-sense. I tried to talk to them but they just wanted to tend to their job. On the second day, they came and applied some type of liquid material to the new brick and mortar and then hosed it down. When it dried, the new mortar matched the original mortar perfectly. Art, the contract estimator and also worker, provided a super detailed estimate of what work was going to be done and they did exactly what they promised. Plus they got the necessary Village Permits—-our Town is very strict and sometimes they come down **** ** work done without permits. But, that was never an issue with Coast to Coast. I have additional house tuckpointing and interior wall cement work that needs some repair and I will be calling Coast to Coast to help me with that problem. Their price was comparable to another estimate from a different company. Lastly and very important, they gave me a start date and time of arrival. And, they were there on that date and that time.
