Masonry Caulking Services

Why caulking is important…

Caulking is the process of sealing joints or seams in various structures and some types of piping. Caulk may also be referred to as a sealant. At CTC Masonry, we provide professional masonry caulking services including brick, stone, and concrete caulking to keep your surfaces beautiful and structurally sound. When it comes to executing our masonry caulking services, we typically abide by the following guidelines:

  • We decide on the right caulk for your specific project. Because caulk keeps air and water out, it is necessary that we choose the correct product such as silicone caulking versus polyurethane caulking. For a long-lasting seal, we choose a one-part urethane sealant that is permanent, waterproof, flexible, and shrink and crack-proof. Picking a quality product is important, as gaps left by cracked caulk can allow air and water to seep in. This can eventually lead to water damage and mold growth – two things you do not want to happen in your home or business!
  • We clean the surface by removing old caulk, dirt, and loose particles with a caulk-removing tool followed with a precise wipe. We use a cloth and caulk primer to ensure that the space is clean. We then apply masking tape to either side of the joint to create a straight edge. This masking tape is removed immediately after we apply new caulk.
  • We prepare the caulking tube for sealing by cutting the nozzle to the desired bead size. Using a caulking gun, we insert the cartridge. With an even and consistent pressure, we control the rate at which the caulk leaves the tube and apply a smooth seal to spaces inside and outside the home.
  • Using smoothing tools, we tailor the caulk joint to a desired shape within two to five minutes of applying fresh caulk.
